E3 2016 isn't far away, and you can expect the usual pre-E3 articles where we focus on E3 memories, magical moments, and occasions when we wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. Of course our usual 'five things we expect' feature won't happen in quite the same form, for reasons that are clear. Nevertheless Nintendo has beefed up its E3 plans to include streams and broadcasts covering a small number of exciting games, while eShop fans will be eagerly awaiting the promised discount bonanza.
As fans we always want more, though, and that's abundantly clear on the freshly launched Nintendo@E3 2016 Miiverse channel. Its comment posts are mostly asking for surprises, many of them unrealistic. All mentions of NX have clearly missed the many memos Nintendo's issued saying it won't be there, though some are hoping for relatively feasible surprises - sane suggestions include a surprise look at Paper Mario: Color Splash or perhaps the Mario Kart 8 DLC that may or may not have been teased recently.
Some can't get past a certain game with 3 in the title, meanwhile...
In any case, check it out if you have a lot of time and tolerance to spare.

Yeah I've gone in there. It'll be a wasteland of broken dreams come next Tuesday.
Miiverse is interesting... I use to go on there a lot but the regulations are so strict that it makes the experience limited. Im banned rn, for posting pics of my Smash mods... Maybe I deserved it
People can only respond to that one dude's post? Looks really awkward. (Can you even call it a community then?)
there's been a zelda community for a long time now tho
(i know there's more, just a joke)
Moments after Nintendo's E3, fanboys will be a toppling jenga of disappointment.
Miiverse feels like everybody is either under 12 years old or has under a 12 IQ. And I pretty much stopped using it after the overhaul where you don't see game threads anymore, when they broke it up into pics, journal and questions. Really makes it as useless as the comments. I do occasionally post a pic though, that mid-level octopus boss in Shantae Pirates Curse was always good for a laugh.
And besides, we have Nintendo Life.
Time for more Starfox 2 artwork and Virtual Boy Wario Land complaining. cracks knuckles oh AND Super Gameboy features to be added to N3DSXL. Lol
I'm one of the MK8 DLC posters, Nintendo doesn't need much more new games but rather lots of new DLC to expand their existing ones.
I think the Mario Kart 8 DLC "teaser" may be on to something. My thoughts: They showed Kalamari Desert.
Kalamari = Callie Marie = Splatoon DLC
Miiverse is terrible usually. I guess it's mostly just for kids though. Don't even try to have a conversation on there, or dare try to trade levels or have a little giveaway on there. That's against the rules.
Tip: Don't go on Miiverse.
First post I see in the community: wario land 6. please.
Oi. This will be fun...
@HeroOfTime32 Yep that's what I think too,I mentioned it in the article the other day.I'd be well happy with that haha. Kelp Dome would be a great track to race on.
Blah blah blah Mother 3 blah blah blah.
Get over this series people.
Ya... I'm going to stay away from that community like a brain parasite that hates joy and think it's spaghetti.
No point in reading/posting one good/reasonable comment when it'll just get buried by at least 30 bad/unreasonable ones.
It's obvious there's actually going to be a surprise unveiling of the NX, its price, the full specs, showcase of launch titles, and the software line-up through 2018. Nintendo just forgot to tell anyone about it. You'll all see!!!
Come next Tuesday that place will be a wasteland of disappointment and anger. Is this what you wanted Nintendo?!?! Are you not entertained??
Well, let's have fun with this dumpster fire if nothing else and post our favorite comments from the community here. Let's start with some optimism, shall we?
"NINTENDO WOULDNT MAKE THIS COMMUNITY UNLESS THEY WERE HIDING SOMETHING HUGE FROM US! OR ELSE THEY WOULD HAVE JUST HAD US USE THE ZELDA COMMUNITY!"
Count your blessings for what you shall receive Tuesday in knowledge.
NX and Zelda U delayed to November 2017.
Um, yeah, not that surprised at the amount of times my face and my palm met reading most of these posts...
It's going to be so bad that if you don't laugh at it, you'll end up crying.
With the exception of Zelda U/NX of course.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE that animation says it all. So true
Pretty confident Mother 3 is happening. It fits in perfectly with their other 2016 releases where they need to put stuff out without actually making a brand new game.
Not surprised at all the NX mentions either. Most gamers don't check gaming websites so don't see all the news like we do.
@HeroOfTime32 It could be the Blooper Cup, and the second cup comes with Kalamari Desert, just so no one's disappointed.
You already know what I'll ask in there.
and
Oh, no need to worry, no more pics in this post.
only in Miiverse?, in Anywhere there are many comments of "that" kind, but well, if they want mortified, feel that the world ends, fell disappointed, Well excuse my words, but that's their problem ...
On my part, then, whatever is, if I like any new game incoming, I take it, if not, will be the next time, and next time, and next time, don't worry. ^.^
i just want mario parties and gamecube games on wii u console at this point lol.
Not sure why they made that community again but maybe we will get surprised during e3
@Wouwter If by "that one dude," you mean Tom, then no. There's an E3 community where you can make your own posts, but then there's also a sub-community designated for news/announcements that only Tom and potentially other Verified Users can post to and others can comment on.
I'd be happy with a look at Color Splash, I wanna see it in more detail.
Some highlights include
Wii U VC on 3DS
A Super Mario 64 Remake with "36 characters and the main character is Wiggler"
A My Little Pony game
Mincraft "but only for the 2DS"
Everything free in the Eshop for the rest of 2016
"I can't wait to get the NX this year!"
"They wouldn't of opened this community if they didn't have a super big surprise!"
@AlexSora89 Please Nintendo I will scream if that happens. And dance in my room.
The E3 2013 Miiverse chat was probably my the closest thing Miiverse has ever had to a general chat. And it was also the most interesting! Hopefully, 2016 will bring back memories of those turbulent, uncertain times...
@AlexSora89 Niceee. I never even thought of Mario Maker on 3DS.
As far as GBA Virtual Console... man oh man, did that ship already sail.
It would almost just piss me off at this point if they announced it this late to the console gen party.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy If those are example posts, then I'm definitely glad I've stayed away. Prolonged exposure to those kinds of posts will kill brain cells
@rjejr No more game threads anymore? Well, that was a stupid decision... What's the point, then?
You've got to have dream.
If you don't have a dream.
How you gonna make a happy dream come true?
@HeroOfTime32 Kalamari Desert.
Kalamari = Callie Marie = Splatoon DLC
Maybe more like No Splatoon DLC (Ugg I hope I'm wrong).
I just hope there are a couple unannounced things actually brought up at E3. They really need some fillers for the rest of the year for titles. Or at least advise of an upcoming nintendo direct with some more games.
Aw, bless their dear souls. They don't have a clue what's about to happen.
@HeroOfTime32 I wish they weren't real. Alas... they are.
E3 is all about unrealistic expectations and shattered dreams. It's like waking Christmas morning to find socks under the tree instead of a new bike.
I'd genuinely love to see an official English translation/release of Mother 3 at some point soon. Many more people really need to play this genuine masterpiece. I personally think it's one of the most important video games ever made, because it has something of genuine worth to actually say. Come on, Nintendo; get it sorted!
Seems like each e3 our expectations had to get lower and lower. At first it was like "I'm hoping for smash, kart and a new metroid," to "Hope for one surprise game that hasn't been shown for the last year," and now it's just "I'm hoping we at least get some new dlc." Nintendo has nosedived this gen. The Nintendo magic has been mere smoke and mirrors.
NX better be awesome. Idc if it's a handheld or a console but it better be full of games without significant droughts. Nintendo used to be able to cater to everyone. Now it caters to almost no one but the die hards and even they take issue at the lack of games.
Hey, at least they have a sense of optimism for Nintendo. As interested as I am to finally see the new Zelda, I'm ultimately not very excited for the show. I'm praying for a surprise or two. Even low budget releases would be fine, like a WarioWare 3D or a Sunshine HD.
@PlywoodStick I'm confused by the original comment, there are still game threads. Maybe it depends on your definition of 'game thread'? That's an awfully vague description.
@BensonUii
Just because I post lots of pics doesn't mean I have all the pics but yeah, DS on the 3DS eShop would be a totally neat thing to have. Especially given it would make the cartridge-to-digital save data transfer tool way more useful than it already is.
@andrew20 @HeroOfTime32
Me too. I remember when Smash 4 was confirmed to come out on handhelds for the first time. I literally couldn't stop skipping back and forth in my house. (To be fair, that exact same day the Kingdom Hearts costume for Cloud in Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy was confirmed to come out on the PlayStation Store, and was pretty much my most wanted DLC for that PSP gem of a game.)
Let us dream!!
PS Gamecube VC!
I'm in the "wait and see" camp. Then either be indifferent, slightly disappointed, or actually surprised.
@rjejr There's intelligent people in the 13-20 range as well as good artists; you just need to know where to look or spend a lot of time on there.
I just peeked in there, and half the comments in there are about Mother 3...
NL: "Of course our usual 'five things we expect' feature won't happen in quite the same form, for reasons that are clear".
Yeah, because Nintendo has turned every possible feature down already.
The only music in that miiverse section should me the 2 sed 4 me song. Without the air horns.
@rjejr wait, are you saying that they have an IQ of 12, or an IQ of a 12 year old child, sounds like you said the former, which would be illiterate people who can't even do simple chores, let alone use the internet to navigate miiverse... An IQ of 12 is way lower than the IQ of a 1st grader... You should really cut them some slack, they at least have an IQ of 50! hahah
@JpGamerGuy90 I'd argue in some cases new DLC is better than new games. I'd much rather have MK8 and Hyrule Warriors DLC than Zelda U for sure!
@MarioPhD
I can't stop smiling. That's hilarious, I'm thinking about checking it out now. In some sick way I love reading unrealistic insanely overly optimistic comments. I can't help it. It's so damn funny. 😂
Dreaming is most of the fun.......what actually happens doesn't disappoint me cause it's just entertainment so let wild speculation happen, it's all in fun anyway
@NintendoFan990 hahaa, best comment on here.
@King_Johobo I think the main reason GC virtual console hasn't happened yet is because a lot of GC games like Mario Sunshine, SF Assault, and SSB Melee used the analog triggers of the controller to provide different commands when they're lightly pressed or a fully pressed. While this can be solved with the GC adapter and GC controllers, that would force an extra peripheral (assuming you have enough controllers already) on top of a low user base that'll run the usual port cost to develop and it's not a super profitable venue for Nintendo.
I thought I heard they were delaying that community until next year.
Considering that showing anything that isn't Zelda or Pokemon is in the realm of unrealistic this year, I can't say I blame Miiverse one bit...
I don't really expect anything. Aside from Pokémon Sun/Moon and Zelda U, there's not really much.
I don't expect anything from Nintendo anymore. They're masters in the art of disappointment.
@Ralizah They've always really sucked at listening to their fans, and they rarely ever try too. Nintendo just goes on doing what they think is good and it seems like they don't think of the consequences, the Wii u for example being a console no one really wanted/asked for. Even though I think it's a great system, not the point.
One day Nintendo fans will realise that Nintendo does not give a toss about them. It wouldn't surprise me if most of the staff at Nintendo had no idea what the Mother series was until the fans started begging for it!
@MailOrderNinja Can't be as bad as last year's E3, can it?
@RetroRider it's takes a long time to make a game. if you cash in on what everyone wants, by the time the game is out people want something else.
'Some can't get past a certain game with 3 in the title, meanwhile...'
Half Life 3 on WiiU confirmed!
Maybe they could make Splatoon Legends a reality.
Huh. I usually have a pleasant experience with Miiverse. Even the E3 communities.
@MadAdam81 I wasn't even talking about games, because it's not just the games with nintendo not listening to the fans.
@Aerona What part of Miiverse are you on???
@Mr_Zurkon This might not make sense to you now, but when you hit 32 and start appreciating how difficult it is to buy literally ALL of your own clothes...
A fresh pair of woolies under the tree is actually quite welcome.
Especially if they're night socks with individual toes.
Damn, those things are warm and comfy... #oldmanthings #thanksmom...no,really,thanks.
@ASonic3582 Thanks for the heads-up I never owned a Gamecube so I'm a bit naive of how the button inputs worked lol Hopefully one day they can re-release some of the great games from that console. But you're right it wouldn't make much sense, though I can still dream
@rjejr You're right, but there are mature people on Miiverse too. And some of them are under 12.
@smashbrolink
I have a NO SOCKS (thank you very much) policy for Xmas and I'm sticking to it. I don't care how old I've got 🎅🏼
People just kill me.nintendo already said what they was showing. Lol
I'm expecting one small surprise (cough Mother 3 cough), but that's it. Anyone expecting more than one surprise announcement.... prepare for disappointment.
@geordie how when they said what they was showing already?lol don't troll.
opening an e3 miiverse community in a year where they're not announcing anything at e3 was a bad idea
I'm so fed up I've started selling my Wii u games!
Um, the MiiVerse is fine, don't know what you guys are talking about.
@smashbrolink ha, 32 is in the rear view mirror my friend.
Well, a positive way to interpret all those unrealistic expectations is to think of Nintendo's brand image as not as damaged as some decisions might have made us wonder at. It's good that there are people who have purchased consoles excited to see what comes next, right? Watching the reactions to actual announcements will be interesting. That's the way to measure potential purchases in an important part of Nintendo's market share, no?
I wonder what the top reasons are for why everyone hates Miitomo so much and calls it a disgusting pile of flaming garbage. I think there would be a ton of different reasons, for sure, but what would the top 50 be?
In other news the grass is green
I visit Miiverse quite often. I'm excited for E3 every year. This year, I'm a little disappointed just knowing Nintendo doesn't have a whole lot to present. I wanted to see more Paper Mario Color Splash. Of course, Zelda has me excited. I'm really hoping there will be "surprises" for the Wii U...Mario Sunshine VC! I loved last years E3. The puppets were my most favorite!
@PlywoodStick Well I think technically there are game threads, but rather than just 1 comment following another, w/ people replying to each one, each game page is broken up into 3 separate sections - top comments, middle pics, bottom questions. It really wasn't working for me at all. Maybe if it had started that way, but I just liked the original way so much better.
@Ninten-San There are some very good comments and commenters, but even if it's 20%, that's 80% of garbage I have to read thru to find it. Maybe i's 50-50, but that's still way too much for me.
@CrazedCavalier B/c I don't want to look, or spend a lot of time on there.
Why do people still set themselves up for disappointment for these Nintendo Directs and E3 shows? Then after the fact, when their wild predictions aren't met, it's like Nintendo promised them that all that would happen, lol.
This year's E3 will probably be pretty disappointing overall except for maybe the third parties. Nintendo will be laying low and won't show off much aside from games we already know. Sony, like last year, will just show off more games that won't come out for another 3+ years, yet they'll "win", lol. Microsoft will do the same, but not so much. If some rumors are true, it seems like Bethesda and EA(shocking, I know) will have a decent shows.
@Grumblevolcano "I'd much rather have MK8 and Hyrule Warriors DLC than Zelda U for sure!"
Remind me to never take anything you say seriously ever again.
@RetroRider "...the Wii u for example being a console no one really wanted/asked for."
If hardware makers only made stuff people were 'asking' for, then this industry would have died a long time ago. The only way to thrive is to provide new ideas and unexpected experiences. I can't believe this is so hard to comprehend.
@Ichiban "One day Nintendo fans will realise that Nintendo does not give a toss about them."
Oxymoron much?
Yeah, sorry. Nintendo Life's community makes the Miiverse crew look like Mensa candidates.
@Kage_88 I'm serious you know, Zelda U may add say ~100 hours of enjoyment but 2 more DLC packs for MK8 however would add several hundred hours of enjoyment. Going for 100% completion on new Adventure maps in Hyrule Warriors would do the same.
@Kage_88 What I meant was nintendo continued the Wii brand instead of going on to make a different/new console that a lot of nintendo fans wanted. Nintendo would have known better about the Wii U if they just listened to their fans more.
@JpGamerGuy90 If you look back on this site, and find the Tweet that Bandai did, stating, 'NX is a HOME console, first and foremost', then you will know that it IS a home console.
I do believe that there will be an off-tv device of some sorts. Giving us the Game Pad for Wii U, Nintendo really spoiled us, and they would be making a huge mistake to go backwards.
I wonder if the Bard is still there, ah the memories.
@Kylo_Ren That guy was awfu-
I mean yeah. Memories.
@hoshinosammy Of course he was awful, but he was still funny.
