The sheer amount of costumes in this game is awesome! I still have yet to get it, but I plan to eventually.

@TheHeroOfTime333 I highly recommend picking it up when possible. Just as a head's up, there will be a long update screen because of how often they patch the game.

Unless you're into creating levels, it's worth it. For me, I bought it day one but regretted it because I soon realized I don't have time to make some levels nor play random crappy ones. Someday maybe.

Any rumours about that amiibo being sold separelty yet? I wouldn't if I was them, but I know Chibi-robo got sold separatly and that was only supposed to be bundled when it was first shown. And all 3 stores I was in last Friday, Toys R Us, Best Buy, and Gamestop had plenty of amiibo. Mostly AC, but others as well. My kid almost bought Grininja, but picked u a couple of packs of the new Pokemon series cards instead. Maybe after they tell us what they do in Pokken Tournament.

@Splatburst My kids both really wanted this, and they still play it, but its their Wii U fall back game for when the other is playing games on the TV on the PS3. Which they do a lot. It does keep them sitting on the couch next to each other so that's nice. But I never see it on the TV screen anymore.

@Tsurii Thanks. My youngest has PT pre-orderd on Amazon, its my oldest who wants Grininja and he isn't quit as sold on the game yet, he prefers strategy over fighting. But he's addicted to Pokemon so it might be a nice in for him, like Splatoon for online shooters.

I'm going to have to wait though because my Wii U is broken and the warranty has ended. It's going to take $180 to get it fixed. The disc drive won't read discs anymore. It's been like that since August, and I just haven't had the money to send it in.

I kind of want to know why they update this game with so many costumes but not Yoshi's Woolly World. I guess sprites are easier to make than all new Yoshi skins. (And the lack of Pokémon themed skins for WW is outright stupid.)

But that said, it's pretty cool that they keep giving this game more costumes, even though the majority would prefer certain actual asset updates (slopes, and whatnot) over simple costumes.

@AlexSora89 Howling occurs when you get the mushroom, pressing up has Midna sounds.

I hope you don't need the Wolf Link amiibo to unlock it's costume as I have no intentions of getting TPHD. I have all of the costumes thus far and would be disappointed if there's no new Event Challenge course for unlocking 8-bit Wolf Link.

@rjejr How do you think amiibo are going? I'm generally pleased as they increase their in-game value over time. Problem is there are so few releases on Wii U now! Curious about Star Fox amiibo support. (I'll be enjoying in TP HD for sure as I have the key Zelda amiibos)

I know we want that central game or amiibo hub and I've always thought Nintendo would get there on the Wii U — naively, right?

Now I can't decide on whether NX will double down on supporting the current amiibo with a centralized game (or at least a hub or playground) or if the NX will mark a new round of improved amiibo 2.0 that make the others less valuable. Maybe some combination. Maybe all the old amiibo go out of production and are replaced by less expensive cards when the new ones come out.

The new ones will store more data and light up and maybe jigsaw puzzle to each other and fit into expensive diaramas that unlock entire games.

Suppose we'll have to wait for a Mario Kart NX to get Wolf Link to open up a new Wolf Cycle... or maybe it will be Midna riding him as an actual fast running wolf. If Wii U amiibo are supported much on NX that is.

Well, now I just realized there is about a 101% chance that the next Mario Kart will have a Splatoon track. And I bet ink will be a real mechanic in the game.

@TheHeroOfTime333 If it's going to cost $180 to get fixed you would be better off buying a refurbished one from Nintendo.I'm not sure how much they are but it can't be much more than $180.It'll look like new and you'll get another years warranty with it too.

I wonder if you can also unlock it without the Amiibo. I hope so.

@OorWullie It's just that I have so much money put into my system with so many digital games and all of the DLC for Hyrule Warriors, MarioKart 8, and Smash Bros (including all of the Mii Costumes). Would there be a way for me to retrieve the stuff I've purchased if I get a new Wii U?

@TheHeroOfTime333 I'm sure you can transfer it over to a new machine,you just need to call them and give them your NNID.I think you will lose your game saves though.That could happen sending it in for repair too though,like what happened to me.I had to send my Wii in for repair as it was unable to play the Dual-layers Smash Bros Brawl disc.I received my WIi back and it had been completely wiped.Over £200 of VC games gone.After several emails to Nintendo I eventually received the equivalent I lost back in Wii Shop credit,3 months later.That was a good few years ago now saying that,hopefully they've improved since then.

@aaronsullivan Looking at all those amiibo in the stores on Friday a few thoughts went thru my head.

Wasted opportunity. I think the scalpers are done b/c the general public doesn't want them any more, they don't do anything. Too much competition from DI Marvel and Star Wars and Lego D everything else. I think even Skylanders is winding down, cars are lackluster, racing doesn't fit in well w/ the game. They'll need something different to rebound this year.

People who came up w/ and green lit AC:aF should all be fired. So many amiibo for a game that isn't a game, even the most ardent AC fans shied away from it. All that money spent on all those amiibo that aren't selling. All they needed was to port some other AC game to Wii U. Or build a new one based on assets in MK8 DLC. AC games aren't exactly Uncharted or Metroid, just let the toys unlock characters to walk around and do nothing, a la Snap!. Add in the board games. Not the first game series to jump the shark - Jak X is rarely acknowledged - but there weren't a dozen amiibo riding on that. I think the card series is ok, that HHD game on 3DS is a different animal than yet another board game on Wii U.

Going forward - and this is the year of my Nintendo optimism - despite the lack of amiibo games on Wii U NX will get one. It just can not. Probably a launch title. Maybe a real AC game, but w/ all the amiibo, AC:All Together Now (can't go wrong w/ the Beatles). Which won't be fun for me or my kids, we just don't play those "things", but it has to happen. I wrote a long comment this morning about how I think Ntneod is going "all in" on Nintendo for the NX, amiibo is part of that.

@aaronsullivan Just an FYI - Tuesday at 1PM (our time) Disney is announcing new DI 3.0 stuff. Not sure why they aren't announcing new DI 4.0 stuff, but maybe it's just about Marvel Battlegrounds and Zootopia? Anyway, not saying you should bother to watch it live, but maybe keep an eye open for any interesting news after.

Also, if you happen to be shopping in Target today, DI 3.0 figures are 40% off w/ Cartwheel. I picked up Hulkbuster Ironman for $8.63. Kid still hasn't gotten it yet b/c he's been a brat, but it's waiting for him when he behaves.

@rjejr On DI Next I'll be in a meeting but I am curious. Feels like they might want to keep DI 3.0 around a little while longer. Maybe to stall for a more significant update for 4.0 (new base? Leave behind 360/PS3/WiiU?)

I have more DI in storage to dole out before we buy new ones.

As for you larger post from earlier, I'll just say that I think the fact I'm seeing interesting amiibo on the Target shelves means they are meeting demand. And meeting demand is exactly what they need to do. It means there will be some extras on shelves, but that's what meeting demand looks like.

The great side benefit is less negatives to the entire amiibo injection into gaming. I'd really, really like to see a wave of cards come in with the same chips as the already released figurines, though. It would assuage some fears of untouchable dlc for many and give confidence going forward. This way, more substantial amiibo-limited content could be added without worry of damaging the relationship with some customers.

You do bring up an interesting point though - at what point do those "kid" games, toys to life and Lego, stop coming out on last gen? Wii only got dropped this year by Skylanders - I can't call that racing game a Skylanders game. But there was a reason to support 100mil Wii, not so much 10mil Wii U. I still won't buy Lego D on Wii U b/c I'm afraid support will get dropped going forward.

Not sure if you've been following all my madness everywhere - between Jax and Thanos I've been more busy than usual - but Nintendo really needs to reveal NX before E3, if only for all the other companies to start talking about the NX games they are working on.

Vision looks good too. Only 15 minutes - 2 Zootopia characters, Marvel Battlegrounds looks like the way amiibo should work in a Subspace Emissary 2 game, and Jungle Book, but only Baloo so far. They alluded to Finding Dory and Alice in Wonderland at the end, DI Next is like an ongoing ND series.Well produced as well. No mention of DI 4.0, maybe won't happen until 2017? Not sure how much they can do w/o extra DLC, can Baloo already be on the disc, hmm?
