Now onto the community results, which see a number of the same titles moved around the order, in addition to a new name making its presence felt.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
5. Majora's Mask / 3D

Coming in a place lower than in the staff vote we have a fan-favourite. It's packed with quirky characters, while the premise of repeating the same three days adds a great focus on planning, time management and tracking tasks across various sub-plots. It's possibly the most diverse and interesting Zelda title structurally, and is well worth anyone's time either in its original form or with the fantastic 3DS version.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
4. Twilight Princess

We're slightly surprised by this one (it was 7th in the staff vote), and the result certainly bodes well for the potential fortunes of the imminent HD remaster on Wii U. The source of a legendary E3 unveiling that lives on in the memory, it represented a return to a darker and more 'realistic' Zelda after being preceded by Wind Waker. It arrived late on GameCube and at launch on Wii, helping the Wii Remote show off its early pointer controls and waggle; we reckon the upcoming remaster will deliver the definitive experience, too.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
3. A Link to the Past

One position down on the staff equivalent, we have the 16-bit title that's certainly in the conversation when debating the best games on the SNES. Packed with memorable moments and an integral part of Nintendo fan culture, A Link to the Past also holds up as a fantastic gaming experience in the modern day.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
2. The Wind Waker / HD

Though it hasn't completed a clean sweep to win both votes, it's evident that the HD version on Wii U and fond memories of its original release have been kind to The Wind Waker. After the arguments at the time of its first release over its visual style and setting, it's an excellent example of how strong design and a passionate development team can take a franchise in a bold new direction and, importantly, get it right.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
1. Ocarina of Time / 3D

We said in the staff entry for this game that many regard it as one of the greatest video games of all time, and plenty of you certainly think it's deserving of top spot in the storied Legend of Zelda franchise. Innovative and mind-blowing when it made its 64-bit debut, it still stands up as a beautifully structured and engaging adventure in the modern day. The 3D remaster does it great justice, too, sharpening the visuals, 'fixing' the Water Temple and implementing intuitive control options. However you play this one, you're in for a treat.

An honourable mention should definitely go to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which missed out on 5th place in the community vote by the narrowest of margins.
