GENESIS is an international Super Smash Bros. tournament that hosts some of the world's largest community Smash events. With the tremendous popularity of GENESIS 1 in 2009 and GENESIS 2 in 2011, it was only a matter of time before lightning struck thrice.
GENESIS 3 took place from January 15th - 17th in Northern California, and - as expected - produced some sensational moments of skill and precision from veterans of Smash 64, Melee & Wii U. In case you didn't get a chance to catch it all (or you simply want to relive the action again), YouTuber GRsmash has produced a compilation video comprising of key highlights from the tournament, including some juicy combos, whitewashes, suicides, and clinical KOs.

How is Chillin still on team Liquid? Outside of this clutch match, he mostly loses. (From what I've seen.)
I hope someone else makes a Smash for Wii U highlight video. There were some excellent matches, especially with that Villager player from Japan!
@ColdingLight Being a recognizable name in the community is what sponsors really care about because it promotes their brand the most. Liquid sponsors a lot of the OG Melee stars like Ken and KoreanDJ, even though they don't win anything. But people look up to those players anyway because of their legacy, and being associated with them is just good PR for Liquid. Smash players are cheap to sponsor anyway, so I doubt they would even bother dropping any of their players.
As for Chillin, he got some respectable 17th placings at CEO and TBH5 last year and is ranked the 54th best player in the world by MIOM. Really not a bad at all, he just gets completely outclassed by almost all of the other recognizable top players.
I love GRSmash, but when I first watched that video I didn't like the fact that he included nothing from Smash 4. The Top 8 was really hype to watch for me and I think some clips definitely deserved a spot. Good compilation otherwise.
Wow, I need to watch the finals now. Looks like Genesis 3 was a great tournament.

i suggest watching all of it. it's a great companion for traffic jams. it's also a holy s. moment when you realize you've seen all of it because of traffic jams.
