Another week, another set of Media Create Japanese charts, and this week brings a few major releases to consider, though hardware sales are only showing minor changes.

To kick off with software Yakuza: Kiwami is in the top two positions for PS4 and PS3, making it the most successful new arrival this week. Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS is in 3rd place with 54,479 sales in its first week; that's a little under 15,000 units short of the debut sales of Hyrule Warriors on Wii U back in August 2014. That's perhaps unsurprising considering the fact it's an expanded re-release on the portable, while other evergreen releases on 3DS and Wii U are pushed down by a range of new releases on other systems; the top 20 is below with lifetime sales in brackets.

  1. [PS4] Yakuza: Kiwami (Sega, 01/21/16) – 103,256 (New)
  2. [PS3] Yakuza: Kiwami (Sega, 01/21/16) – 60,427 (New)

  19. [PS4] Call of Duty: Black Ops III (SCE, 11/06/15) – 3,827 (283,493)
  20. [3DS] Disney Magical World 2 (Bandai Namco, 11/05/15) – 3,742 (263,358)

Moving on to hardware it's a relatively static week, with the New 3DS LL (XL) having a small boost (a limited edition unit arrived along with Hyrule Warriors Legends) while the Wii U remains in fourth place; the home console's momentum does put it in danger of dropping back to four figure sales in the coming weeks. Results are below with last week's sales in brackets.

  1. New 3DS LL – 31,452 (30,172)
  2. PlayStation 4 – 24,441 (25,592)
  3. PlayStation Vita – 14,999 (18,202)
  4. Wii U – 11,298 (15,398)
  5. New 3DS – 4,715 (6,241)
  6. 3DS – 2,813 (4,797)
  7. PlayStation 3 – 1,671 (1,939)
  8. 3DS LL – 697 (1,162)
  9. Xbox One – 52 (99)

A fairly steady set of results this week, with Hyrule Legends Warriors avoiding the prospect of being a flop while not exactly setting the charts alight.
