The official Nintendo UK Store is now joining in with delaying Shovel Knight amiibo pre-orders, despite the subsidiary tweeting on 7th December that the figure was coming this Friday (11th December). We've amended the headline of this article accordingly.
Below is an excerpt from the email being sent to affected customers:
Regrettably there has been a delay in the delivery of this amiibo. We are expecting your order to be delivered to you from Monday 14th December.
This is evidently a broader stock issue, and certainly frustrating. The amiibo has already been released in some European countries (such as the Netherlands) but is now encountering problems in the UK.

The Shovel Knight amiibo arrives in the UK on 11th December, which was reiterated by Nintendo UK recently alongside a neat trailer showcasing its in-game functionality. It adds local co-op on Wii U, a new levelling and relic system and challenge stages designed to utilise the new abilities. For fans of the game it's sure to be tempting, as the figure not only looks great but also adds a decent amount of content.
Unfortunately some in the UK have once again fallen foul of pre-order disappointment with GAME, including this writer. Emails have been sent to a number of customers with the following message:
We just wanted to let you know the release of Shovel Knight amiibo has been delayed until 18/12/2015. Your pre-order is still valid and hasn't been cancelled. You don't need to make any adjustments to your order.
A number of Nintendo Life readers have had this same email, yet the product seems all set for a release this week from other retail outlets. Both the Official Nintendo UK Store and Amazon UK are still taking pre-orders for an 11th December release. Some have told us that they've already shifted their orders to alternatives such as these.
It's a disappointing addition to the list of issues GAME has had with orders in recent times, ranging from cancellations and delays through to multiple payments being taken from customers.
In any case, the Shovel Knight amiibo is still due this week, depending on your order status...

This personally prompted me to cancel my pre-order with GAME and order at Nintendo UK Store instead.
It's a shame that I can't really depend on GAME for online orders any more.

They're a terrible retailer. I've not bought anything in there for years because of the prices (used games often go for double what they can be had for new online), but in the last 12 months they've had so many screw ups it's not even funny anymore.
On a side note, they're not the only ones this week. The Nintendo UK store was offering a cap with Ultimate NES Remix. They took orders, took money, shipped out the games and then the day after emailed people to say the cap was a mistake and was not included. Surely they'd have realised this mistake earlier and emailed before shipping?
I basicly dont use GAME atall enimore.. not after what happend with my "New"3DS MH4U eddition... Way to menny things go missing from them and thay wont get up off there backsides to do diddly squwat for about 10+ Days (by that time the dame things sold out completly) there customer manidgment was horrid too... was basicly "Yeah? So what?.. oh its all gone? oh well whatever you want a refund then?" NO I EFFING DO NOT I WANT A FREEKIN REPLACEMENT that YOUR incompatance has made me go to a Scalper... haveing to pay a Extra £100 ontop of the inital price... (Befor eniyone bangs on about my logic here... GAME really want people to dislike them, don't they? I mean, hiccups with retailers can happen, yes, but that's taking it to a whole new level..
My instore preorder still says 11th December on the GAME app, maybe it's just the online orders like all the other website only issues (Super Mario Maker, Falal Frame 5, etc.)..
this is kinda why i don't use GAME anymore Nintendo store all the way for me/amazon.
Why do people keep pre-ordering through GAME? It's different if it's an exclusive, but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
I got the same email. Strangely their website still states "2 days until release".
I only ordered from Game because I had some reward points to use. Will stick to nintendo store in the future.

I ordered Twilight Princess off them yesterday thinking all these woes were behind them . Just changed it too Amazon as it seems this is an ongoing problem. Their stores drive me crazy the most. Some of the staff are just dicks.They think they work in the game industry when they actually just work in GAME. Saw one guy tell a couple the Wii (Original not WII U) still had some life left in it. Was dying to cut him off and step in.
Geez is there ever a time that GAME has positive press? The more I hear about this the more I feel bad for folks across the lake.
I'm surprised GAME are still going. They seemed to be fine before they were bought out and taken over a while back.
@Peach64 That's disappointing as well. I saw that was discounted to £8.99 and sold out pretty quickly, it was a good deal while it lasted.
@SanderEvers didn't the wii just get rodea sky soldier? And doesn't it get the latest sky landers games?
I picked bayanetta 2 up in game(after i eventually found it) took it to the counter and he said " for the wiiu?" I was like erm yes.

It sold out so quickly that my brother missed out on the deal, within an hour of it being spotted on Nintendo UK's twitter.
@allav866 Well, off the top of my head there's a cafe chain called 'Eat' and a stationery store called 'Staples'.
I just had to check where I preordered the Shovel Knight amiibo. Thankfully past me chose wisely with the Nintendo UK Store instead. This sort of problem is one of the reasons why I never preorder online from GAME anymore if I can help it.
They are a nightmare. In the past three preorders I've had with them, I was charged 5 times for Mario Maker, my Maiden of Blackwater didn't arrive on launch day and my Xenoblade order cost me £45 rather than £40. i will not be preordering from them again, if only to avoid the unwelcome requirement to contact their customer services after each screwed up order.
@Peach64 That's not good. Did you get a refund or compensation? If they dispatched then the order is fulfilled so they have to give you what they offered.

Shopto & Nintendo store still taking pre-orders. Shopto is £14.86 and Nintendo is £12.99. But Nintendo charge shipping for less than £20.00
This was their last chance for me, cancelling now. Useless sods. I only pre-ordered with them because they were the first to list it...

Yup, like normal the Nintendo Official Store is useless too as I got that same email. I have had nothing but problems in regards to the Official Store. Pre-orders delayed or even just simply lost.
Another point is that the Official Site doesn't even sell the NFC reader/writer for us with old 3DS but look on Amazon and there it is it's even "Sold By: Nintendo"
tbh this seems to be a problem with the initial supplier. Being that it's being made at the same place as Disney Infinity so maybe Disney have paid for a priority order of Star Wars figure with Ep 7 on the way. Thus pushing the Shovel Knight to the back of the line.
Aww bummer man just got that Email. Game is getting worse n worse.

That GAME were the first to inform of the delays didn't reflect well on them.
This is annoying because I was banking on my order being delivered to my workplace this week, I'm probably not at work next week.
@allav866 Dude, I would go to SOUP for all my soup needs. If I wanted soup I'd not shop anywhere else. They'd have my undying consumer loyalty.
I love how "everyone" was bashing GAME and it turns out they were the good guys here; they were just trying to let their customers know as soon as possible. I don't understand why "everyone" always has to spew so much hate. I say just be glad that you are getting it this year. The US won't get it till January...

Poor communication on their part, the email didn't get any real details of the cause, whilst Nintendo UK store actually did.

Just got email from Nintendo telling me my Amiibo is delayed till the Monday so looks like Game was correct ...
@riChchestM They offered refunds if you wanted to send the game back. Nothing to make up for the lack of cap if you're keeping the game though.
Like @SanderEvers says Shovel knight amiibo's are on the shelves here. I wondered if the amiibo craze was over when I didn't see the usual sold out everywhere chatter on the forums. So should I get one?

I only just realised I had an Amazon order when they just sent me an email about the delay. I just cancelled my GAME order. How did I order it twice without knowing? Must be because I'm a forgetful moron, lol.

And there I thought the Amiibo shortage was over. Haven't heard anything about my Gamestop preorder yet so it'll probably be there on friday if not earlier.
@Peach64 Same happened to me, tbf it was a ridiculously good deal (and still is a good deal) but it was a stupid error as it was itemised on the bill as well, definitely feel they should have taken the blow.
I am not going to reveal my source of information, but I have found out that the Shovel Knight amiibo HAVE arrived in England, but they are stuck at customs.
@Volmun I can completely agree with you. I was diagnosed with Aspergers around the age of 9. I have a strict budget that I rigidly stick to when I place a preorder on any item and I have to work it out to the penny just to make it so I feel confident that I can afford that preorder when it is due to release.
