Project X Zone 2 remains one of the most pleasant surprises for 3DS this year, not only for the fact it's been made but also that it's coming to the West. Due this Fall in North America and next year in Europe, it'll no doubt bring its blend of cross-franchise RPG madness back once again.
The original wasn't without its flaws, but it did also demonstrate the potential of the concept. Crossing over IPs from Bandai Namco, SEGA and Capcom is always an exciting prospect, so the fact it's having another go around is pleasing to see.
Bandai Namco has now issued a load of new art and screenshots for the title, while also confirming some new and returning characters. Confirmed to appear for the first time are Hibana (Nightshade), Alisa Ilinichina Amiella (God Eater 2), Sylphie (Forgotten Worlds) and Miyuki (Ordyne), while Chun-Li (Street Fighter), Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken), Morrigan (Darkstalkers), Demitri (Darkstalkers), Pai Chan (Virtua Fighter) and Saya (Namco X Capcom) are all making their returns.
In addition to this there's a new character and the ability to customise character skill sets, with some blurb below.
Sheath is an agent from the US branch of Ouma (a shady organisation intent on bringing destruction to the world). Always cheerful, she travels together with Saya across worlds in order to bring their schemes to fruition - using a sword engulfed in flames to unleash devastating magic-imbued attacks in combat.
Additionally, some fresh information has also been revealed about the game. A new system featuring character skill sets that strengthen each unit's normal and special attacks will be introduced in Project X Zone 2. It is up to the player to use Customisation Points (CP), choose wisely and increase their skills. The new in-game shop also allows players to purchase items with Gold during 'Intermissions'. Prepare for the next stage of combat by purchasing various useful items to utilise during missions.

2016 in the Americas as well, Out this fall in Japan.
@readyletsgo The first one is a pretty good game. It's really enjoyable, but just a little repetitive after playing for 20+ hours. It's not a scary RPG like you're thinking. The strategy elements are light and the combat is fun and easy. I would definitely recommend checking it out, especially since it's probably cheap these days.

Project X Zone 2 has release date listed for Early 2016 in the West and November 12 in Japan. Next year works better for me anyways. Have enough games to buy this year as is.

@readyletsgo Ypu should give the two demo versions a try, then. They've been available for a while, and show you basically everything the game has to offer, except it has way more characters.
But really, the first game was kinda meh. The combat system is fun, but never expands in any meaningful way, the story is just confusing (but not in a "mind=blown" sense), and at some point, the game just throws legion after legion of ever-repeating enemies at you, ramping up the playtime per chapter close to 40 minutes.
Also, you can effectively screw yourself over by using certain characters too much, as there are various chapters that split up your party, potentially leaving you with only your weakest members, and you cannot train or grind at any point in the game except by progressing the story.

Yep keeping my eye on this and my wallet ready - will be good to get a nice LE of it. Really liked the banter between the all characters in the first one. Arthur was hilarious!
