We recently reported on a mysterious new blob-like Pokémon which was teased during the screening of Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages in Japan.
Viewers caught a little glimpse of the new character, which is expected to make its début in the forthcomingPokémon The Movie XY. However, CoroCoro magazine has now printed more detailed images of the new 'mon, which you can view below.
CoroCoro doesn't give much more information about the new monster, so feel free to allow your mind to run riot in the comments section. What could its back-story be? What special powers will it have? How much associated merchandise will it generate? Predict away!

It's simple.
Those new 'Pokemon' have something to do with Zygarde.
After all, datamining the game, a placeholder for different formes was found on Zygarde, and the moves Thousand Waves and Thousand Arrows are there.
This happened in gen V, when Kyurem had the same thing, and Freeze Shock and Freeze Flame were in the game, albeit inaccessible.
This seems to be set up for the new game.
They definitely seem connected to Zygarde.
They resemble Tsuchinoko, a mythical burrowing snake.
Zygarde already represents a being that exists under the world tree Yggdrasil, as I recall?
I think the tiny guy is like how Phione is related to Manaphy
Wait! Mega Evolution 4? S--t! I miss 2 and 1!
They look related to Zygarde, but too small to be a form change. I think it's a brand new pokemon that's connected to Zygarde but won't evolve into it. If it's a brand new pokemon and is added to generation 6 Z or X2 Y2 games, then it'll be the first time they've added a pokemon mid generation that wasn't in the game data.
@KO-Cub What about 3?
@crimsontadpoles
Exactly, and that's why I'm excited to see what the heck it is.
If it's in the game data, the Web browser exploit could allow people to obtain it.
Also worth noting that CoroCoro said questions will be answered in their next issue.
@ZenTurtle It's not. This is totally new, probably in the next games
Yes, once again freaking ash returns with a pikachu... we need a continuation of pokemon orgins
Could it be a 'combiner' Pokemon like from White 2 and Black 2? You can combine and separate at will?
Yeah I'm starting to think that "new" giant pokemon is just a form change of Zygarde.
Hell for all we know, that green blob could be Zygarde, too. As in instead of staying as the balancing pokemon, it changes form into a giant dragon god of destruction and ejects its reasoning or conscience or good side or whatever and that's what the blob is.
So mega evolution 4 is some kind of prolouge to the next movie?
Green blob Pokemon is no doubt connected to Zygrade, and I'm positive the big new one is too. My bet is mega evolution.
@RupeeClock Yup, Xerneas and Yvetal are also based on Norse mythology, and the three of them represent the giving of life, the taking of life, and the balance in between. All of that makes me wonder where this green blob fits in...
What makes you guys think it's connected to Zygarde? The big thing is gonna be the Original Dragon and the blob doesn't resemble Zygarde besides being green.
Maybe it's Zygarde's offspring or something... :/
It's obvious that this is Mega Ditto.
I think this green blob is the key to zygardes mega form!
Anyone notice how there are five of the little green blob Pokemon in the picture, and how there are 5 of the little things on Zygarde's back? Could that mean anything?
@JubilifeRival
They actually have a little green gemstone-like eye like Zygarde's. What they are to Zygarde is the real mystery. Whatever they are they must be the key to its new power at least.
What I wonder though is if this means there might be more new Pokemon to make up for the smaller than usual number in X&Y. That'd sure shake things up. If this is coming out in an X2/Y2 sort of release, it might not be alone.
Looks like some kind of fish or tadpole. I'm guessing Water type.
Zygarde is already a Mega Evolved Pokemon. He is different from others because he is always mega. But his Mega has another Mega that evolves after. Zygarde really has 2 mega forms. Now, that seems silly. But it is true! This new little Pokemon has to be on your team along with Zygarde to Mega evolve again. Just like Zygotes asexually divide in mitosis.
This new Pokemon is called "Zygodal" coming from the word zygote.
The 2nd Mega of Zygarde is " Primitive Zygarde" or "Prime Zigarde" for short. It comes from another zygote term.
The basis of this discovery comes from that all Pokemon have Mega capabilities, but only some can fulfill those capabilities. Pokemon X and Pokemon Y stand for chromosomes. There are X and Y chromosomes. One Pokemon was blue and one was pink/red. Blue for boys, pink/red for girls. It is all about anatomy in this series. There is no Z chromosome. But if there was it would probably be a hybrid of X and Y. Zygote is those two dividing.
That is my explanation. I think it makes the most sense. Zygodal will be just Water/Dark and Zygarde is Dragon/Ground. The final mega evolution will be Dragon/Dark.
@mrprince
There's a big hole in your theory. Pokemon X&Y aren't based on chromosomes, but rather axis. They're supposed to represent different ways of thinking, with the Z axis representing the two meeting in the middle. Z would also probably represent looking at things from a different perspective than your own.
As for everything else, I think its more likely that Zygarde will be the base form, and possibly have two mega forms. Zygarde, Yveltal, and Xerneas are based on the creatures living around the world tree, and based on an observation by Bulbapedia, Zygarde is possibly also based on molecules.
That's what these little green Pokemon probably are, and they probably create some sort of energy when around Zygarde that causes it to mega evolve. That's another theme Pokemon has going, energy. The "energy" created by the bonds between Pokemon and trainer, mega evolution creating massive energy. Its likely that not all Pokemon react to, or simply can't utilize the energy that causes Mega evolution.
