Early this year Nintendo surprised and delighted us by bringing Wii games to the Wii U eShop; though they're the same basic Wii titles and they're booted in the system's Wii Mode, it nevertheless allows us to download some retail games we may have missed in the last-gen. It kicked off with Super Mario Galaxy 2, as well, which was a fantastic start.
The fact it was the sequel made some hope that the first has been getting the 'HD treatment', but that's evidently not the case. During today's Japanese Nintendo Direct it was announced that Super Mario Galaxy is now available for download in Japan, also with an initial discounted promotion price.
We expect this'll make its way to the West relatively soon - will you be picking up the download for your Wii U?
