Rodea The Sky Soldier has had a troubled route to release, undergoing a lengthy impasse between developer Prope and Kadokawa Games, in the process shifting from Wii to Wii U and 3DS. It's now nearly out in Japan, however, and is coming to the West later in the year.

We've seen plenty of the Wii U version, but it's likely to be the 3DS version that carries the best hopes of sales success, simply due to a userbase that's over five times bigger for the portable. A new video showing the story and some action sequences is useful, then, as it gives us a look at how the handheld version is shaping up.

You can see this below.

Though the visuals are understandably more simplistic, they may look rather decent - especially in motion - on the hardware.

Are you interested in picking up Rodea The Sky Soldier later this year; if so, will you opt for the Wii U or 3DS version?
