Shulk Amiibo

Update:

Nintendo UK has provided us with the following statement on the issue of cancelled Shulk amiibo pre-orders.

Nintendo UK can confirm that the Nintendo Official UK Store has had to cancel a very limited number of pre-orders for the Shulk amiibo. Nintendo is in the process of contacting those customers affected and apologises for any inconvenience caused as a result of this.

Original Article:

While most territories have some form of official Nintendo store, the UK's online shop is one of the most substantial, selling the company's major hardware and software offerings along with a range of other merchandise. For UK fans of the big N looking for convenience it's a consideration alongside established outlets such as GAME and Amazon UK.

Though the UK store has often been the source of stock where others have been short, and has offered exclusive limited editions, it seems to have toiled as much as others with the amiibo range. In some good news for those interested in the latest range, however, the Sonic and Mega Man amiibo - two of the most recent figures - are currently available once again.

Unfortunately well over half of the amiibo range is sold out on the store, and it seems the official outlet can fall into the same traps as other retailers. Just recently we reported that Amazon UK has delayed some Shulk pre-orders to June, and there are now fans on Twitter and social media sharing frustration at having their Shulk amiibo from the official store cancelled. Stock availability continues to be a notable problem.

As we suggested yesterday, this may be a priority for Nintendo ahead of the launch of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D in early April - that release is plugging support for the Shulk amiibo, which will ring hollow if only a few lucky gamers can actually get hold of the toy.

We've reached out to Nintendo UK for comment and will update accordingly once we hear more.
