As we rattle towards the festive season and retail sales spike, Nintendo is no doubt hoping for strong sales around the world to move towards its targets and overall profitability. While the peak season has arrived in the West — with Black Friday, for example — the biggest sales boosts in Japan can come a little later. The latest Media Create numbers don't show any major increases yet, though there are impressive 3DS numbers and improved Wii U figures.

To start with software, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remains on top in its second week, selling nearly 300,000 physical retail copies; Etrian Odyssey Untold II makes it début in third place behind Vita title Phantasy Star Nova. You can see the top 20 below, with lifetime sales in brackets.

Moving onto hardware we have increased sales for the New 3DS LL — which remains at number one — and likewise with both of the older models. The Wii U also saw an increase, even though there were no obvious software successes to prompt the jump; it should be noted, of course, that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U arrives in Japan this week, so may have helped with an early boost. The figures are below, with the previous week's sales in brackets.

New 3DS LL – 48,738 (42,184)
PlayStation Vita – 27,935 (10,236)
New 3DS – 22,875 (26,791)
3DS – 19,722 (8,144)
3DS LL – 15,182 (11,534)
PlayStation 4 – 13,489 (12,430)
Wii U – 12,496 (9,615)
PlayStation 3 – 5,360 (4,324)
PlayStation Vita TV – 1,285 (621)
Xbox One – 1,237 (776)
Xbox 360 – 108 (100)
PSP – 18 (11)

A solid week for Nintendo, overall, and it'll be interesting to see how the Wii U entry of Smash Bros. performs next week — its portable equivalent performed rather well on 3DS.
