Just this past weekend we pointed US Nintendo gamers towards a host of upcoming Target discounts that'll run from 14th-20th December, in that same article also referencing some modest Best Buy deals that accompanied the retailer's family game demos. That list of Target deals included 3DS XL systems with a $50 discount — to $149.99 — and therefore matching up to similar promotions from the 2013 Holiday season.

As Target's deal is yet to start, Best Buy has clearly decided to jump in with its own equivalent promotion that'll run until 13th December.

At present the black, red and blue models are available on the Best Buy website at this price, which is more than likely also reflected in local stores. It essentially means that, retailer loyalties aside, there are 3DS XL systems readily available over the next week and more for $150 in the US.

Of course, this is against the backdrop of the New Nintendo 3DS, already out in Japan and Australia / New Zealand but without a fixed release date for Europe and North America. Nintendo will certainly be keen to sell as many original and XL systems as possible to clear stock in readiness for the new handhelds.

Let us know whether a $150 3DS XL is tempting to any of you in the US, or whether you think most will hang on for the New models in 2015.
