Last week’s Nintendo Direct revealed Kirby and the Rainbow Curse would launch in North America in February, whilst fans of the pink puff in Europe and surrounding PAL territories would have to wait until the second half of 2015.
Now, according to the official Nintendo Console Gaming Facebook page, the upcoming Wii U title will be released in the US on 13th February. This confirmation puts the US launch just weeks behind Japan, which will receive the game first on 22nd January.
If you live in North America let us know in the comments if you will be able to put time aside for the latest Kirby release. And for those of you located in Europe or other PAL regions, tell us if you’ll be able to maintain interest in this game until it is made available in your location.

This release schedule confuses me...
I have to see more of the game first, maybe try it out. I love the visual style, but it looks like the kind of game I wouldn't have a lot of fun actually playing. But, once again, I'd like to try it out.
Nintendo of Europe has always hated Kirby for some reason.
The control scheme of this game is what turns me off. I do not what to be forced to use pen and gamepad for all of my movements. The one on the Wii was more my kind of game.
I get the delay because of Captain Toad. But close to 6 months for a Kirby platformer seems ridiculous. Does this game have tons of text or speech?
Now it might land in the middle of Yoshi's Wooly World's release. I guess that means that game will be pushed back 6 months in PAL territories too.
At the moment don't really care that the game is coming so much later for EU as I'm not really interested though it is strange to have such a gap.
Earliest at it finest. Finally, an excuse for Valentines Day!
I've never played a Kirby game but I will consider this for a start if it'll be a great game.
Second half? Geez... Eh, not interested in the game anyway.
@RainbowGazelle That is very true!
Nintendo has a really odd way of releasing their games across multiple territories. Can't quite understand the thinking behind it all. It almost feels like they don't care about Europe sometimes. But then they go and release special edition bundles the US don't get.
I just hope it doesn't get lost in Europe the way that the Wii Kirby game did. If they released that as a digital download on Wii U I'd buy it in an instant.
I'll probably pick this up. Been wanting more Kirby. Seems like a good choice for a kickoff game for Wii U's 2015.
Kirby games have quite often been delayed in europe or not released at all. I can only assume the games dont perform as well over here but then delaying it 6 months or more is surely not going to help the sales much
So I guess Kirby is to 2015 as Tropical Freeze was to 2014. The first 1st party game to kick off the new year.
Because everybody knows that nobody in europe, asia or the usa can read each others' internet, scattered release dates make perfect sense.
Getting this day one. I love me some Kirby games. Can't wait to play this game.
Well this sucks
I like the aesthetic, but I think I'm going to skip this one. I didn't like Canvas Curse because of the control gimmick, so I don't expect this to be any different.
A new 3D Kirby would be fantastic, though. Just sayin'.
I wasn't really that interested before and this delay for that long has put me off the game completely. Unless amiibos implication is cool, it sounds like a pass until it's cheap
I'm not that bothered, always got something to play so I'm never waiting for stuff to be released, but I don't know how they can justify that kind of delay. People moan about companies delaying Wii U versions of games but Nintendo Europe are doing exactly the same.
I'm not exactly big on games that use touch controls exclusively, like this one seems to. But it's Kirby, and it looks gorgeous, so obviously I'm going to give it a try.
I'm not sure; we'll see. I love Kirby and all, but this one hasn't hooked me. The multiplayer aspect is about the only thing that does interest me, and that's only because my fiancé will usually play Kirby games with me (but besides Mario, not much else, to my disappointment).
I heard a lot about Canvas Curse but never tried it, so I am willing to get this.
The controls are the only thing that actually interest me about this game and it seems like the one thing that is turning most people off? I'm doubtful that I'll pick this up but if I do, it will be to try out the gameplay/controls.
It's a unique control scheme and it separates it from other platformers. It seems like you have to think ahead more then in a typical platformer.
@Peach64 I hate you... Every time I have something to say, I scroll down, and you've already said it! I agree, the last thing Ninty needs are delays. I wonder if the delays are due to the ratings board... Might be the hold up? Just guessing.
I gotta get the Wii U soon man!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed the one on DS. So I'll definitely get this one.
Feeling the love a day before Valentine's day (and same day as my gf's b-day). Depending on my backlog, I'll get it day one to 5 months later.
Doubt I'll get this...unless amiibos have a really cool part to play it
i love the art style and that will be a couple months after smash so i might pick it up
Games that were delayed/not released in Europe by Nintendo for no apparent reason: Kirby's Dream Collection, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Scribblenauts Unmasked, Devilish Brain Training, Kirby and the Rainbow Brush.
These kind of delays are unacceptable on this day and age. Why, NoE, why?
Canvas Curse was an awesome game. Looking forward to this!
@DiscoGentleman - I never used the touch screen for W101 and I'ld be fine w/o it, but they would need some way for you to know when to start and stop drawing a line - hold down R1 maybe and always have a cursor on the screen for the right stick? We played Max and the Magic Marker on Wii - similar line drawing concept - and it worked w/ the Wiimote as a pointer, hold down A or B to draw (I forget which). Would be nice to have that as an option for the 2nd player anyway even if player 1 needs to use the Gamepad.
Multiplayer made this day 1 for us. My kids birthday is in Jan so he'll be getting this w/ gift cards or cash.
I wonder if it will be $40 like Captain Toad or $60? I'm glad Captain Toad is $40 as it's mostly a 1 player puzzler but Nintendo is setting a precedent w/ it at that price. Nobody should expect Zelda or XCX at $40 but Kirby and Yoshi maybe. Though $50 due to multiplayer sounds about right.
Maybe the EU/UK will get Yoshi 6 months before the US? nah
Hopefully that's just a placeholder release date for Europe. If it turns out to be accurate then, like Captain Toad, I'll wait until I can buy it second hand.
I'm doubly excited because I never played Canvas Curse.
Kirby And Rainbow Coloured Poop Coil..
I would love to see a 3D Kirby platformer, this looks like it would be better suited to 3DS
Definitely getting this on 13th.. I'm not waiting for it to come out here
Awesome, but I still think this game should be cheaper than it will be, or even download only (I know why Nintendo won't do that). I loved canvas curse, and love the multiplayer element, and can't wait to play it.
Meh, a Kirby drawing game essentially. Sounds boring. If I ever play this, I'll want to be one of the characters that move freely. But I probably won't be getting.
@RainbowGazelle
Um... Scribblenauts was getting sued over some of it's content which is probably why it was delayed like it was for Europe.
@FragRed
And they have massive promotion sales constantly and the Club Nintendo is stocked regularly with new stuff coming and going.
NICE! wasn't expecting it so soon.
Nintendo's release dates are a mess.
This may be the first game I get in 2015.
European release off by half a year for a game with no text to translate? Don't do this to me, Nintendo!
Kirby is my Valentine
This looks like a 3DS game... Pass.
@gage_wolf it;s supposed to look like clay, i think this screenshot doesn't do it justice.
I can't imagine there being much dialogue to translate and it's certainly not a mature title so this delay is baffling.Maybe Europe is getting Yoshi WW first while the US have to wait till 2nd half which would be fine by me.Never enjoyed Canvas Curse and find this one a bit off putting how you always need to be looking at the Gamepad.Looks too good to be wasted on the Gamepad only,but there might be more to it than what we've seen so far.
@brutalpanda I think it looks great,the 6th and 7th screenshots are almost like you can put your hand in and squish it haha.Gameplay wise though it does look like a 3DS game.Unless there is a lot more to it than we've seen so far like being able to play on the TV for starters then it should really be a Eshop only release.
Well, I'll be sure to download it then. This game looks like a blast!
This is why region locking is such a bad thing for consumers....
@RoomB31 That's stupid why would you limit it?
That was fast didn't expect a release date so soon.
@ModestFan93
putting your pleasantries aside, the only reason I mention it is 1) Nintendo has done it many times before (dr luigi, pokemon rumble, pushmo, Harmoknight etc...), 2) To market the actual value of the game, which until Nintendo shows me more is not at $40 but rather $19.99, and that is much easier to market.
But I have to ask, why do you think that is limiting? I agree that storage could be an issue, especially for the 8gig console(why does that still even exist?), but everyone has access to the eshop, its not an exclusive club or anything.
Giant obsessed Kirby fan here. Excitement. Day one etc etc
@RoomB31 Simple why do you want limited options for a major 1st Party game?
@ModestFan93
simple, because I wouldn't put it as a "major" 1st party game. like I said, its hard to see the value (right now) for a full retail release.
Second half... so, that's 30th of June then. This is going to have hardly any dialogue so what's the delayed release for?
EDIT: Wait! Second half, not Q2?!? What the... why... I don't even...
I miss the times when Nintendo consoles (OK, handhelds) weren't region locked. I really enjoyed my japanese copy of Touch! Kirby, European release date was at the end of November.
So its much farther into development then I expected. In fact its as good as ready.
