@2Sang @Angelic_Lapras_King I know I'm repeating myself, but Duck Hunt is extremely unlikely. The dog is called Mr. Peppers, and Nintendo would stick to that name, not "Duck Hunt Dog". That's why the leaks which showed them are most likely fake or edited.

@BensonUii Never going to happen. Dragonball is neither a Nintendo-affiliated series nor did it start as a video game franchise. There's absolutely no reason for anything Dragonball to appear in Smash Bros.

@Kaze_Memaryu You seriously want another sword character? Link, Toon Link, Pit, Marth, Ike, Meta Knight, Robin, Lucina and Shulk make nine altogether and that's already too much, as far as I'm concerned. Plus, Ganondorf was already shown in the first leaked footage of Shulk and he's largely the same as he was in Brawl.

@Kaze_Memaryu And as far as the Duck Hunt Dog goes (or Mr. Peppers, as you pointed out), he's likely called "Duck Hunt" on the select screen since he's a duck and dog combo character, and not just "Mr. Peppers".
And after Shulk's reveal and all the confirmed menus over the past couple weeks, there's really no refuting those leaks. As much as I'll miss the Ice Climbers, I have to admit the leaked photos and videos were, in fact, legitimate. They had too many details that were unconfirmed at the time and since came true, down to Shulk's character art and pose, as well as all the accurate menu options. There's no way someone could have gotten all that right beforehand in a fake.

It's at 6am in my time zone. I'm not going to watch it, but I hope there are good news for me wait I drink my morning coffee.

@BensonUii I am a huge Dragonball fan but anime characters should never be in a smash bros game,and no pokemon does not count because it was a game first

I am sad to say that I will give it a miss. By the time I'm available at the time of day to watch it, the game will be out and information will be posted immediately knowing the popularity. Starting the 12th, I won't be on the internet for a month lol. Might watch it then XD.

At this point, all I hope for is just the presence of the newcomer trailers in the handheld version of the game, because I'm otherwise satisfied (without counting the fact that - if the leaks are true - the fourth Smash game seems to have pulled a Mewtwo on the Ice Climbers, which is a pity considering I love those two guys). Classic mode, tons of trophies, Mii Fighter online sharing, and much more. The handheld SSB has it all.

@Kaze_Memaryu It's "Mr. Peepers" and he has never officially been called that. The fact the ducks are also part of the character is probably why he's just "Duck Hunt" though.

@thesilverbrick That's not even close to convincing. Since there's no proof to the source of the leaks, anyone could've made or edited them. I actually think this Duck Hunt Dog stuff is more like a running gag among leakers, so they just edit them into the pictures. I'm not believing it until Nintendo confirms it - it's just too dumb and ridiculous to take seriously.
But Ganon with a sword would be the best thing ever! I don't care how many characters already use a sword (there are just as many who fight with their bare hands, so it doesn't matter) - but if it bugs you so much, I'd gladly vote for his monster form trident!

@thesilverbrick @Highwinter Just for reference: Olimar isn't called "Pikmin", either (despite the Pikmin doing most of the strong attacks), so that's not really a strong argument.

also one of the leaked modes was of a masterpiece esque mode but using assets from smash. we saw a pic of the day where balloon fight was recreated using the villager as an example. its rumored there will be a pacman, mario, and metroid stages recreated too.

MR PEPPERS AND DUCK doesn't really capture a ring to it like DUCK HUNT DOG does, it's like calling the Ice climbers POPO AND NANA

From what I read, there doesn't seem to be the implication of a new character or mode reveal, only that they will be featuring information about the new characters and modes in the game, similar to Corocoro.

@rp17 First off, Olimar's naming is different in germany, so I wasn't aware of that, sorry.
Secondly, while the article you get pointed towards is the actual source, it was apparently edited. I'm currently reading through the full interview, but that might take some time (it's really long). Once I got the section, I'll gladly share it.
Meanwhile, if you search for "duck hunt mr peepers" on Google, it will show you various results further acknowledging that to be the actual name of the dog from Duck Hunt (just don't search for "mr peepers" alone, there's some really nasty stuff coming out of that query). Some of the results go back a couple years, so it's not a recent thing.

And to be fair, he is usually just called Olimar. That's what it showed at the E3 demo... I think. But I know it is definitely Pikmin & Olimar in Japan. And it still shows the Pikmin first on all official websites, no matter the language...

@JellySplat That was about the first they confirmed when they announced the game. It practically went: "We would like to announce Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS... AAAND there is definitely no tripping this time!"

@Kaze_Memaryu I wouldn't rule out the Duck Hunt Dog just because he's a bizarre old throwback. If someone told me pre-Melee that Mr. Game and Watch would be playable (and that was never his official name, mind you) I'd have called bullcrap, and yet, here we are. The Duck Hunt Dog is going to be in the game. It would require some incredible photoshop and video editing skills to fake those leaks, plus some amazing lucky guessing to get Shulk so dead-on. You're frankly holding onto a pipe dream if you're still denying those leaks.

@thesilverbrick I think you don't understand what I mean. What I say is that the leaker(s) edited the actual leak photos to include Mr Peepers & Duck, not that the whole photo was just shopped. And I'm not just thinking this outta the blue - the leaks seem to differ in terms of Mr Peepers, and in the character select screen, there are many inconsistencies Sakurai would never have.
Besides, I learned to deny EVERY leak, regardless of how genuine they seem. Until something is truly confirmed officially, absolutely NOTHING about a leak is confirmed or even remotely genuine - Nintendo could take harsh steps and retract characters from the game, for example (theoretically, that is - in practice, they would never just dismiss finished work to disqualify unofficial sources, that'd be stupid).

@Kaze_Memaryu Oh, OK. I get you now. Sorry, I thought you were denying all the leaks.
At any rate, there are still several concrete things that give the leaked CSS solid credibility. First of all, the lower screen of that infamous CSS shows Bowser, Bowser Jr., Pikachu and Kirby selected and those are the four fighters in the leaked video of Bowser Jr. fighting. That in and of itself isn't solid, but consider the following:
The recent demo released in Japan had five playable characters with the rest blurred out. These are in the same order as the leaked CSS. Also, in a show floor demo just this week in Japan (which had all eight costumes for the characters in it) Pit no longer has a Dark Pit costume (because Dark Pit is a separate character).
Now neither of those things explicitly confirms the Dog exactly, but everything points to his inclusion. There's no reason why he couldn't be in the game. In fact, Smash has a pattern of introducing long forgotten retro characters (ROB, G&W) and the Duck Hunt Dog seems to be this iteration's throwback WTF character.
I'm with you about rumors and leaks in general, though. I generally dismiss them until there's some concrete evidence to the contrary. But in this case, official reveals only serve to further prove the authenticity of the leak, and denying it at this point is essentially futile.
