New artwork, screens and game details to enjoy

The Pokémon Company International has shared a great deal of new detail surrounding the upcoming Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire games coming to the Nintendo 3DS this November. Many of the details revealed today were already previewed in the most recent CoroCoro magazine in Japan, but the official release includes new artwork and some other tidbits of information.

Firstly, the new Mega Evolution revealed was Mega Metagross, which will be partnered with returning champion Steven. Mega Metagross will retain the Steel/Psychic typing but will will obtain the new ability Tough Claws, which powers up physical based attacks, in addition to an increase in speed.

Pokémon Amie was also confirmed to be returning to the upcoming titles. Originally introduced in Pokémon X & Y, the Pokémon Amie feature will allow trainers to bond with their Pokémon and increase the Pokémon's friendship with their trainer, allowing for more effective battle strategies such as increased critical hit ratio and a greater ability to evade attacks.

Cosplay Pikachu, a new feature, will make its début in Pokémon Omega Ruby & Sapphire. The various cosplays for Pikachu include Pikachu Rock Star, Pikachu Belle, Pikachu Pop Star, Pikachu Ph.D., and Pikachu Libre. They are related to the return of Pokémon Contests but nothing else was shared at this time regarding specific details.

Some more details were also shared about Mega Diancie. It will sport the special ability Mega Bounce, which makes any status condition or stat lowering effect return to the Pokémon trying to inflict it. Mega Diancie will also receive a boost in speed, attack, and special attack, while receiving a slight reduction in defense and spacial defense.

Details about the story and quest of Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire were also shared. Players will begin their adventure by receiving a Pokémon and Pokédex from Professor Birch, and challenge the eight gym leaders of Hoenn eventually leading to the Elite Four and Pokémon Champion. Many of the gym leaders from the originals will be returning such as Norman, the player's father, as well as Roxanne, Brawly, Wattson and Flannery. Sidney and Phoebe will also be returning to the as members of the Elite Four.

Every time new information is revealed, my hype levels shoot higher than I ever expect it to be possible!
Also, call me a grump, but I instantly hate those various Pikachu costumes. Especially Pikachu Ph.D.

I am so excited, not for the pikachu or mega evolution stuff, but for the secret bases, contests?, and just the way they made the gym leaders and elite four!

The game's looking pretty good so far! Oh, and by the way, by "Mega Bounce," do you mean "Magic Bounce?"

I'm so hyped for this game. I like that I will be able to dress up Pikachu. He is, by far, my favorite pokemon. This game sounds like a blast.

Agreed.. they're like trying to get attached to a mii.. The black outlines of the 3ds games in general also give everything a somewhat pale appearence..

I've been hoping for this feature for a long time in a pokemon game, but it never seems to happen; Please let us re-challenge the Gyms! Fighting through the gyms is one of the most fun parts of the game. And I think it would be nice to be able to do this as many times as you want!

It looks like the gym challenges haven't been updated. A graphical makeover is not enough! Regarding Roxanne's gym: Really? Another gym setting in a museum? I hope it's not like Heartgold/Soulsilver where it was just a graphical update with nothing really new added (ok a small new area but it was no Sevii Islands). Anyways, I'm looking forward to berry plots all over the world again! And contests!

@HyruleChampion You and me both on the reliving the childhood part. Berry blending while I was walking outside along the sidewalk was my fave memory :) Planting berries, blending 'em into pokéblocks, and participating in contests were the best memories!

@ollietaro I'm sure there will be plenty of changes and surprises to be found, but they have to be careful to get the balance right between walking all over peoples memories & updating tired characters. Also, they need to save the big drops for closer to release. Personally I think they've made Flannery a lot cuter with just some minor style adjustments.

I'm hoping that the "cosplay" is something that rolls out to all the pokémon so that it can be used in the contests. The only issue with this would be that that'd have to make the models for all the separate outfits.
