Update:

Below is a new trailer for the Western version of this movie.

Original Article:

As we've reported previously, Pokémon XY The Movie - The Cocoon of Destruction & Diancie is coming to Japan on 19th July, the latest in a long line of animated films for the franchise. The Pokémon Company International has now announced the inevitable arrival of the movie in the West in 2014, confirming that it's now available for license.

Called Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction in its translated form, we suspect there'll be plenty of TV stations and broadcasters from multiple countries queuing up for the rights. In its press release announcing the move The Pokémon Company International highlights the various broadcast deals that have recently come into force in various countries, including content on streaming services such as Hulu and Netflix.

The press release also provides a neat summary of some of the extraordinary sales numbers of the franchise, including current 3DS titles Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

A leading children’s entertainment franchise, Pokémon features a wide array of offerings including video games, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, animation, and various licensed products. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y recently became the fastest-selling video games for the Nintendo 3DS system, selling nearly 12 million copies worldwide since their October 2013 launch and adding to the more than 245 million Pokémon video games sold to date. With more than 20 billion Pokémon TCG cards shipped globally and animation licensed for broadcast in more than 160 countries and in more than 30 languages, Pokémon is a long-standing hit among fans around the world.

We'll no doubt learn of broadcast dates for the new movie in the coming months, but in the meantime below is the rather dramatic trailer recently released in Japan.
