Video: This Senran Kagura Burst Euro Trailer Will Put A Spring In Your Step

Posted by Damien McFerran

3D brawler is bursting out next month

Senran Kagura Burst might be seen by some individuals as a plague on gaming thanks to its cheap titillation and scantily-clad female fighters, but it's got just as many fans for those very same reasons — it's also a pretty decent game as well, as you'll know if you've already consulted our review.

The European trailer for the title certainly plays on the selling points of the game, and gives you a fair indication of what to expect when the final product ships next month. A sequel — Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson — has been confirmed for release on 3DS this year in Japan.

Seriously... why couldn't the US get a physical release of the game, too?!??!

rjejr said:

Everybody DL and carry this trailer on your 3DS and when somebody says Nintendo only makes kiddie systems just whip it out.

GuSolarFlare said:

those screens + "GET YOUR 3D TURNED ON!" = best advertising ever!

@rjejr lol you know that only guns and blood are for grown ups all the rest is for kids

I'm intrigued by this simply because of how crazy the premise of it all is especially for something on a Nintendo system, would love to see the look on people's faces in the shops come launch day.. Moreso in GAME for the poster bonus

sillygostly said:

I have a bad feeling that Australia won't be seeing a physical release of this game (as none of the major gaming retailers have this listed for preorder).

Kit said:

That was a bit rude! What's this soft-porn for the 3DS. Norty norty, very norty.

Vhyper1985 said:

btw for those interested GAME have recently updated their site with the poster pre-order details since I remember people mentioning in the last SKB article that GAME customer services at the time had no idea about the pre-order bonus

Ralizah said:

Get Your 3D Turned On!

THAT is a perfect slogan.

The game is quite a bit of fun. Better than Code of Princess, at least.

Morpheel said:

To THIS is Senran Kagura.

... Is that a girl with a little third boob in the image?

Gobelee said:

This makes me feel kind of funny. Like when I used to climb the rope in gym class.

taffy said:

@rjejr To "whip it out" in the UK could get you in trouble.... not that I've ever done that sort of thing.... promise

HaastMK7 said:

@ALL I think this game will attract bad audiences. This gaming is a very pathetic excuse of a Fighter/Brawler. If you want good Fighter/Brawler games stick with Tekken or Street Fighter.

BakaKnight said:

I admit that the idea of fanservice combined with good gameplay made me interest in the game, but all this kind of advertisment and THAT cover art...
How the heck am I supposed to buy this game in store without looking like a perv?!?!?! >_<;;;

HaastMK7 said:

Yeah, my bad I should have included that too. But this game is a bit inappropriate, and not (In my opinion) a real Fighter Game. More or less just a game based on Anime girls with problems, and I am no therapist...

MuchoMochi said:

Is there any chance that this will come to America in a physical release? I started reading the manga and I'm actually enjoying it. Make it happen Nintendo, not all of us 'muricans are prudes afraid of cartoon boobs!

GuSolarFlare said:

I'm starting to love those negative comments about the game. like a slight fanservice can make people evil out of nowhere, it's so ridiculous it's funny!
I mean I've said this a thousand time already how can a pervy game be any worse than kiiling people to score higher? PLEASE SOMEONE! TELL ME HOW IS IT POSSIBLE!?!?!?!

yuwarite said:

The things you see in Last of Us' American multiplayer is way more offensive than this.

BoobooMama said:

To those you haven't played this yet, you're going to have a blast! There is a crap-ton of content in this game. I only wish we got a physical release in Canada.../frown

Kaze_Memaryu said:

@HaastMK7 Tekken and Street Fighter are the worst possible examples, just like your statement. If you had at least mentioned Guilty Gear, I could take you seriously on this topic, but no, you whip up two of the worst fighters in recent history.
Senran Kagura has that in-your-face fanservice everywhere - but at the same time, both the story AND the gameplay have unexpected depth to it, something that your examples sorely miss.

Anguspuss said:

Just what you want to play on the train sitting next to some old deer. (excuse me young man why are you blowing into your gadget thingy)

masterLEON said:

Love that new slogan! That's how you sell a game like this! Go big, or go home…hm, that kinda works, too!

J-Manix98 said:

Side note... There is a VERY thin line between hot, and anatomically ridiculous! Anime ALWAYS crosses that line... I mean really, how can EVERY girl in this game have breasts as big as there own head!

jkvasn said:

This game is just bad. The game only runs in 2D during the main part at 15 FPS. Gameplay is so mindless it can be played with eyes shut. The leveling up system is pointless and doesn't add anything to the experience; it only complicates things and messes things up. Don't waste the $30.

FX102A said:

@Red3025 Can't be bothered finding that overused gif of Orsen Welles clapping from Citizen Kane so just imagine it for your comment.

Artie said:

For starters, this is not a fighting know what, nevermind. People are stupid and terrible in the west. They just want to kill people that don't look like them.

Geonjaha said:

I wonder if anyone will actually buy this game for the fighting/brawler mechanics and not just the fact that its basically just soft-core pornography. It'll be fun to watch people pretend that isn't why they bought it though.

Doma said:

People who are describing this as porno, must literally have NO IDEA what that actually is... WTF is wrong with you?

HaastMK7 said:

Really mate? Thats your just opinion. A lot of people would find them to be good fighters. And considering how long Street Fighter has been out, (That's including the whole series) how could you call that a bad game. It is a lot better than most... :/

This game is not a truth fighter, sure it has depth, but SSF and Tekken has re-playability. This is just a inappropriate game, with a whole bunch of girl UN-dressing. This is not a Fighter game, and that's my opinion.

Doma said:

@HaastMK7 I would of thought it VERY obvious that this game isn't a 'Fighter' comparable to the likes of SF/Tekken, and is in fact a 'Beat 'em up'.

Ever heard of those before? or are you really that clueless about videogames...

Kaze_Memaryu said:

@HaastMK7 @HaastMK7 I don't even know where you get the idea that Senran Kagura is a fighter - it's a brawler, and never pretended to be a fighter. That's not subject to opinion to begin with. Yet you saying Senran Kagura would attract 'bad audiences' is what really irks me.

What is a 'bad audience'? People who like this? People who you think shouldn't play games? It's that kind of ignorance and prejudice that makes social networks bursting with terrible people saying terrible things.

But my statement on Tekken and Street Fighter relates not to my opinion of both, but to the objectively bad balancing and downright lousy atmosphere. And these two points are completely independent of sales figures and popularity. Or in other words: I don't care how many people like these games, and how old the series are, they're still bad. Now let me tell you why.

Balancing is the core essence of a fighter, and Street Fighter 4 has very bad balancing (projectile/reversal spam and double hit height bypassing), while Tekken has no balance at all (take Yoshimitsu/any character, use sword/mash buttons, win).
But where these two games (or rather, way too many games in general) absolutely fail is the story. The usual tournament excuse to get people to slap each other is so worn out, it should be banned. But even then, both games manage to mess up even that.

And just to clear the article-related point: you don't even know what you're talking about. If you actually played Senran Kagura, you'd know that the fanservice is an additional mechanic to widen your strategic possibilities (and to appeal to the intended audience). The story, however, is much better than what most game plots delivered ever since Xenoblade was released in japan. The gameplay itself might not be quite as deep, but still provides great entertainment and loads of content.

Bender said:

Geez, I had no interest in this one honestly, but since people are making such a big deal over it I may just have to see what the fuss is about xD probably don't want to be seen playing it though... Good thing there's folders on 3DS

BakaKnight said:

@WiiLovePeace Good point, the eShop would avoid me much troubles (and save my dignity XD), but it feels bad to download this game after the "miracle" of getting a phisical release in Europe >.>;

@SilentHunter382 I was already thinking about the raincoat, but not the fedora... that is a stylish touch! Thanks for the tip XP

WiiLovePeace said:

@BakaKnight I guess you could always order it via an online store & have it mailed to you. As long as you're the only one checking the mail you won't get "busted" haha
