Chocobo Racing 3D Fails To Reach The Finishing Line

Development seems to have just stopped

It's just over 3 years since the 3DS was announced back at E3 in 2010, and with it was a list of third party titles set to grace the handheld during its lifespan.

Square Enix had its fair share of games listed for the 3DS, with Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance landing in 2012; in the same year Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy burst onto the scene.

Chocobo Racing 3D was also listed by the company, but seems to have completely slipped under the radar since the game's announcement at E3. Siliconera reached out to Takashi Tokita, who was the creator behind the original Chocobo Racing for the Playstation in 1999, to see if he knew anything about the game's progress, to which he replied:

The original Chocobo Racing was made by me. But the one for the 3DS was a project being handled by someone else, and as far as I know, it has been closed. Now, if I had made it, I would have made sure that it came out. Unfortunately I was not!

It's not known who was handling the aforementioned title's development, but seeing as news has been extremely sparse with it, things aren't looking too positive for a release on the 3DS in the future. Are you disappointed with this news? Would you still like to see the game released? Let us know in the comment section below.
