Awesome Mario Kart Trophies Added to Club Nintendo Europe

Posted by Thomas Whitehead

Four available for 5000 stars each

We suspect, based on our community game nights and events — they will return! — that Mario Kart 7 is pretty high on a number of favourite game lists. The franchise is also the classic multiplayer experience on Nintendo systems, successfully bringing out the most competitive instincts in players.

Naturally, if you play with friends you may want to up the ante, so the new Mario Kart trophies available on Club Nintendo Europe may be worth a look. They cost a fair amount at 5000 stars each, so you'd better start filling out surveys now.

Will you be blowing your collected stars on these, or are they out of your budget? We'll keep an eye out for their appearance in North America, too.

They're just cheap plastic last time I heard about them. Not worth 5000 stars. I recently spent all my stars on a Mushroom Kingdom figurine and 3DS card case.

Not true. My son has had the medium sized shell trophy for some time. They're made out of a sort of chrome-plated resin and feel pleasingly heavy. Definitely one of the better offers on the European Club Nintendo.

Earlier this year, I won the Shell Cup at an Expo.
It'd be awesome if they were offering the Mushroom Cup as a prize at the next Expo later this year. I love the look of that one.

I was pleasently surprised by the quality of it! Although I couldn't help feeling it was rather expensive, and maybe I could've spent my stars on something else. It'll sit proud on my gaming shelves, collecting dust obviously.

Europe never had games as rewards... We can still have Nintendo points cards. For 1000 points we just have to register 16 games!
USA had Mario Rpg for 200 coins...

The vast majority of the EU Club Nintendo rewards are absolutely terrible. Notepads or stickers. The US rewards are regularly updated and include games but this is the first new thing on the EU eshop in ages. The MK7 trophies need about 30 games worth of points.

@andreoni79 i think the only games we have had in the EU/UK star catalog is Mario Tenice (GBA) Game and watch collection on DS and a physical Game & Watch game.

@Nintenjoe64 & @andreoni79 Thank-you for pointing that out to the ppl who are unaware on this.

@Nintenjoe64 It's a trade-off, because NoA's rewards are basically what you're describing. You guys get cool trophies, and we get game rewards that are sometimes good, and we both get a lot of useless garbage. To be honest I'd still rather have the trophies.

@Nintenjoe64: While I can agree that notepads and stickers are terrible, the US shop isn't updated regularly outside of new game downloads.

Know what? Let's just agree that Japan has it best, and that just sucks.

Already had the banana, mushroom and shell ones from the last time they were on. This is the first time the lightning one is on too though, ordered it right away! That will be 6 cups I'll have, including the Leaf and Special cup trophies too. But now I'm all out of stars. I hope that, when they come, I'll have enough to purchase both the Flower and Star cups as well!

You get 250 stars for each Wii U and 3ds game you add to your account.

Ok I will be short 650 stars if I add my unused codes. Not worth it to get codes only. If I was only short one then ya I would have. Ah well I still have my shell one. :)

Sometimes I think the US Club gets overstocked items from other clubs... I caved a year or two ago and bought my own SNES and NES Wiimote attachments from a pro who puts classic controller parts in those shells. Works great, but I'd given up on the US store giving us cool controllers.

I will get one of the Trophies as soon as my Wii U got registered! x3

GamerZack87 said:

@JaxonH: Actually it's mainland Australia, but by saying "Oceania" I include the other even more forgotten places as well. Basically I feel as though Nintendo of Europe is still in the 1600s and doesn't know that we even exist... :(

JaxonH

JaxonH said:

I do notice that a lot actually. I remember reading the articles about Metroid Prime Trilogy not getting a steelcase in Australia, the only region not to get one. Don't get me wrong, here in the US I miss out on some things, like the Xenoblade LE packaged with Red Pro Controller and the Pandora's Tower steelcase, and we ALL miss out on the cool things Japan gets- all the amazing 3DS models, the Wii U models and bundles, the JP only games like Yakuza HD, but I really can't complain.

I just wish they'd announce that extended Gamepad battery for NA. It releases Oct 4 in EU (not sure whether that includes your region as well). Nintendo controllers have never been region locked, so I doubt the battery for a controller would be. Maybe it can be imported or something...

GamerZack87

#79

GamerZack87 said:

@JaxonH: We haven't even received a Wii U price drop in Australia, let alone heard any news about the upgraded GamePad battery or white Premium Pack. And I already got the most worthwhile items from the Australian Club Nintendo Stars Catalogue (G&W Collection 1 and 2), so now it's a matter of waiting for a CN update.
