Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan may have only arrived in North America earlier this year — it lands in Europe on 30th August — but it's almost time to dive into that world again with Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. A 3DS reworking of the original Etrian Odyssey, this includes a new story mode with set characters, which promises to provide a more cinematic journey through the plot.
There will be a "Classic Mode" for those that would prefer the series staple of creating their own characters, while the new Story option should — in theory — be attractive to both newcomers and those familiar with the series. As the 1st October North American release gets closer, Atlus has now launched the full official website for the title and unleashed a new story trailer, below. The conclusion of the video also shows the pre-order box set which includes a CD and art book; as for Europe, it's awaiting a publisher to take up the reins.
Check it out below and let us know what you think.

This looks awesome. I'm really looking forward to this more story-focused approach, especially since you can clear the game in a more normal, hardcore mode as well.
The story will be a nice change of pace to the already interesting classic formula.
Cant wait but I have a problem. I've been playing Shin Megami Tensei and my copy of Etrian Odyssey Titan is still sitting in the shrinkwrap. I hope I can get to it and beat it before this comes out I also have not opened Fire Emblem yet and would also like to get to that. No doubt this has been one of the best years ever for any console. The 3DS has been on fire
@Windy Have you played Devil Survivor Overclocked yet. Should be cheaper to pick up and it like a cross between Fire Emblem and SMT. I've been thinking of playing it again as the story is really good!
Seen this video yesterday and can't wait to jump into story mode! I hope it really turns out well done!
@Spoony_Tech I haven't played overclocked yet. It's actually one I have not picked up. I have 3 or 4 games still in the shrinkwrap. So much came out so fast and I go through RPG's pretty slow. I search every nook and cranny. I have a feeling I will be playing SMTIV at least another month or so. I will pick up OverClocked and your right, now is probably a good time to do so.
I doubt i'll bother with the story option myself but its a great inclusion as some of my friends just don't like and/or understand the concept of playing an rpg with no story.
Just ordered EO4. I played the demo, and i loved it.
would i have to play the previous games to understand this game?
@youngkc19 probably not. Lately with sequels these companies have been making them so that one did not have to play the previous version. It seems 90% of sequels are their own game and i'm sure it's no different here.
I just ordered Etrian 4 (I live in the EU). I am looking forward to it! The demo sold me on the game, I am really digging the amount of strategy that is needed to play the game.
@youngkc19 Since this is basically the first of the series improved and with a story option, it's a great opportunity to get into the games without prior knowledge.
I hope EOIV sells well enough in the EU for this to be a possibility as well! I'll be doing my part come Friday.
Played the demo for 4 extensively last night and thought it was great!
This to me is THE BEST way to remake retro titles, optional story/set character mode as well as a visual and gameplay update! I wish more companies would make this amount of effort instead of repackaging the same product for a new generation.
