An old tale made new

It's Japanese chart time. Hooray! Though this week doesn't reflect complete Nintendo dominance. Boo!

But still, this week's results bring us a few interesting points; Atlus title Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl makes its debut in third place — it's a re-telling of the first entry in the series, of sorts — behind new titles on PS3 and PS Vita. A spate of new releases also sees Animal Crossing: New Leaf finally fall out of the top 10; lifetime sales are in parenthesis below.

1. [PS3] Gundam Breaker – 200,564 (New)
2. [PSV] Toukiden – 122,794 (New)
3. [3DS] Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl – 88,278 (New)
4. [PSP] Toukiden – 66,016 (New)
5. [PS3] Atelier Escha & Logy: The Alchemist of Dusk Sky – 57,550 (New)
6. [3DS] Digimon World Re: Digitize Decode – 34,350 (New)
7. [3DS] Tomodachi Collection: New Life – 34,254 (1,201,787)
8. [PS3] The Last of Us – 32,472 (149,938)
9. [3DS] Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D – 27,725 (174,541)
10. [PS3] Date A Live: Rinne Utopia – 23,340 (New)
11. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 12,834 (3,303,681)
12. [PSP] Urakata Hakuouki – 12,247 (New)
13. [3DS] Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – 11,510 (805,029)
14. [PS3] The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition – 7,841 (New)
15. [PS3] Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – 6,813 (New)
16. [PS3] The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd HD Edition – 5,970 (New)
17. [PSP] Starry Sky: After Autumn Portable – 5,550 (New)
18. [Wii] Taiko Drum Master Wii Super Wonderful Edition – 4,847 (506,998)
19. [PSP] Onigakko! Portable – 4,159 (New)
20. [3DS] Kuma Tomo – 4,124 (16,829)

On the hardware front, 3DS LL (XL) holds off a Vita resurgence helped along by software number two Toukiden, while the standard model maintains its performance; the Wii U also saw a small increase, but nothing substantial — last week's sales are in parenthesis.

3DS LL – 33,272 (28,281)
PlayStation Vita – 31,271 (13,422)
3DS – 17,440 (14,988)
PlayStation 3 – 12,554 (9,816)
Wii U – 7,060 (5,329)
PSP – 6,492 (5,091)
Wii – 1,338 (1,234)
Xbox 360 – 330 (282)

Not quite the usual Nintendo dominance this week, but hardly a disaster. It's also a small positive to see Wii U sales rise slightly with no high-profile releases, ahead of the release of Pikmin 3 later this month.
