Cooking Mama 5 Development Heats Up for 3DS Sequel

Posted by Thomas Whitehead

Keep on cooking

The Cooking Mama franchise never seems to be out of the development oven, with titles regularly gracing Nintendo systems over recent years. The character has also dabbled with gardening and crafting, of course, but when we're not simulating chopping carrots with a stylus, it doesn't necessarily feel like the real deal.

The good news for fans of the series is that Cooking Mama 5 is confirmed as in development for 3DS, with a target of a Winter release in Japan. Localisation isn't yet confirmed, but it's a franchise with a strong track record of coming to both Europe and North America, with 3DS debut Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic even serving up an eShop demo back in 2011. Gardening Mama: Mama and the Forest Friends is also coming to Japan on 3DS, slated for September.

Are you glad that Mama's making a return on 3DS? Let us know in the comments section.

The DS Cooking Mama games sold huge in Europe and America so we'll probably get this one as well.

I'm very excited to see a new cooking Mama game, but even more thrilled to see the possibility of a new Gardening Mama game in the future. I loved the Gardening Mama game more than the cooking games and have been wishing for a sequel for a long time.

These games are usually pretty fun so I'll have to keep an eye out for this.
