Satoru Iwata took to Miiverse for the very first time earlier on to reconfirm that the update Wii U users will receive in April will reduce the time it takes to launch and exit software.
Not to be outdone, Shigeru Miyamoto has now made his Miiverse debut by submitting a post to celebrate the Year of Luigi.
Here's what the great man had to say:
It's been a whole 30 years since Luigi's debut in Mario Bros.!
Thanks to Luigi's fans within Nintendo and all over the world, we have created many games starring Luigi.
I hereby declare 2013 to be the Year of Luigi!
Miiverse is certainly gaining some momentum. First Nintendo releases details on smartphone and PC integration and then Iwata and Miyamoto make their debuts on the social network - if Reggie Fils-Aime hasn't posted by tomorrow morning we'll be very disappointed.
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is now available in North America and Europe, so everyone can now celebrate the Year of Luigi in style.
How are you celebrating Luigi's 30th anniversary? Let us know in the comments section below.

What else do you have planned for the Green Hero, Shiggy?
It has begun!
Short but sweet
...What happened to today's competition results?
This happened about a week ago, its not news... well at least in America.
Anyone starting to think that maybe Luigi will play abig part in 3D Mario Wii U's gimmick, like maybe a 2 player mode?
@YellowHare91 Probably his real life name with or without spaces.
well obviously its not him doing this directly, its his work expo kids kickstarting the PR recovery strategy Nintendo discussed with retailers.
I have been loyal to them since the early 80s game and watch stuff. I was perfect age to fall for Mario Zelda etc. Still haven't bought a Wii U because there are no games.
Seriously, I can't beiieve how badly Ninty loved the Wii U opening year up. I mean they are usually brilliant marketeers.... but they really messed this one up.
I'd imagine you can just go to the luigi community and see his post there.
@wcb123 It would be easier to see that there actually are games to keep you occupied if you had a Wii U! Just a thought from a serious Nintendo fan from way back in the 80s as well...as I type this from my GamePad
I went to Shiggy's post. That was on the 19th..
@Jewelarchon
Year of Luigi, exept he's only appeared on the 3ds thus far no?. Can't take you seriously if you really think there is sufficient content for the Wii U. Credit is due to the 3ds, but do tell me what im missing out on for the Wii U..?.
Where's the A grade titles, exclusives, Ninty characters. Im not talking shovelware or ports Ive already played on the PC two years ago (with better graphics). Where's Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, F Zero...Where's R.O.B... Where's a complimentary game of Duckhunt.
This kinda list was standard with new Nintendo consoles of the past. Not any more.
Wheres Zelda, 3D Mario, StarFox,? Why replace the best Metroid producers (Retro Studios) with amateurs.(Team Numty).
The higher ups at Nintendo are gradually losing the plot, we all know it.... Its time they sorted it out.
by drawing luigi on miiverse!
I really hope that the 3D mario game for Wiiu this year will turn into a 3D luigi game. That would be awesome. Instead of Bowser you'd be up against Wort from Super Mario Bros 2(North America Version). Something just to mix it up would be fantastic!
I wish I had a Wii U. I would love to use Miiverse.
That happened AGES ago, as soon as the Year of Luigi community was made.
The WiiU better get some serious Luigi content, and not just that downloadable Super Mario thing.
it sorta winds me up that all the green tick guys on miiverse only use it for promotion. imagine being able to look though miyamoto's drawings and stuff. just to see that there enjoying the console too.
So where's the Eu region Miyamoto Special Mii for celebrating the Year of Luigi? One in two years is shambolic.
Dejavu or this is really old (older than Iwata's post, anyway).
