Retro City Rampage Storming Onto WiiWare Soon
Posted by Andy Green
Updated version coming to European shores
Popular download title Retro City Rampage has been available on PC, Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita for a while now in North America. The game has recently been tweaked and updated to give the player a better experience, and now it's coming to a multitude of platforms in Europe, including WiiWare.
For those new to the game, Retro City Rampage takes the open-world action genre and makes a unique parody of it, taking modern game mechanics and crushing them all into an authentically sleek 8-bit experience. You play as the bad guy as you go around stopping evil do-gooders and generally causing havoc - who doesn't want to play as the bad guy?
The tweaks made by Vblank Entertainment, the game’s developer, include faster cars, additional tutorials, tips screens, shop icons on the map, checkpoints and level balancing. Some of the missions have even been completely overhauled in an attempt to make them better. Of course WiiWare and all Europeans in general have never had access to the game so won't notice the changes at all; those in North America may notice a few subtle differences, though.
It's currently under "console certification" for WiiWare and Xbox Live Arcade, so should be out fairly soon in Europe and North America.
Are you looking forward to playing Retro City Rampage on WiiWare? Sound-off in the comments below.

I've been wondering what the hold up is. Was excited about this over 2 years ago then kind of forgot about it. Then they released it for Sony systems (which I don't have) and the PC, but left Nintendo and Xbox out of it. I wonder how soon 'coming soon' is this time....ok, rant done.

What about Wii U eShop and 3DS eShop? They're more than capable, ESPECIALLY the Wii U.

So, are they paying the director of Back to the Future royalties on that artwork?

Metacritic average is 71%
Considering the amount of devtime, delays and hype, I can't say I'm not disappointed. If anything, I'll get the PSN or XBLA version when I get a PS4/X720 (either or). Sorry, but I don't like the idea of spending my money on a service where the devs aren't gonna make any cash. Pretty sure the only game that made any profit these last couple of years on WiiWare was La-Mulana. Or maybe a shovelware title here and there.
At least the 3DS eShop doesn't have these bullcrap restrictions.

@NintendoCat14: I dont know why they would have to pay the director of Back to the Future for that cover? If anything they would have to pay the Delorean Motor Company if it was still around.

I played some of the PC version when it was first released & it didn't seem to live up to my expectations... Guess thats what happens after years of waiting
It just didn't seem like the game had any "soul" if you know what I mean. Maybe I should play the updated version. Either way being able to play it on the couch will be nice & hopefully more fun than on my laptop.
