Harmony of a Hunter is a fan-produced album that celebrates the Metroid franchise, and when released it gave a more significant acknowledgement of the series' 25th Anniversary than that from Nintendo itself. A free, two-disc album with 36 tracks, it was a major undertaking that we discussed in our interview with Shinesparkers or, to be more precise, the men behind the website and album, director Darren Kerwin and assistant director Torbjørn 'Falcool' Brandrud.
The main topic of that interview was follow-up album Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run, which has been a major project incorporating 39 tracks from 30 different artists. With a variety of musical styles included, it's now been confirmed that the new album will be released on 17th November, free once again, and should be a nice way to warm up — in North America at least — for a bit of Metroid Blast in Nintendo Land the next day.
Below are the official press release and the rather slick, extensive trailer, which is sure to bring some nostalgia for fans of the series.
We are thrilled to be nearing the release of Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run, a huge collaboration of talented musicians brought together to provide remixes and arrangements of some of the most popular themes from the Metroid franchise. Over a year of work has gone into Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run, a follow-up to Harmony of a Hunter that we released last year, which includes 36 tracks of music by 24 different musicians and groups. This time it's even larger, with 39 tracks covered by more than 30 musicians and groups. The album contains over three hours of music covering genres such as Metal, Ambient, Trance, Orchestral, Techno, Dubstep and Opera! It's quite amazing that such a huge project with so many people involved has come together as well as this and could not have happened without the hard work and dedication of our team. I'm proud to have worked closely with all of them, especially with my good friend and assistant Torbjørn 'Falcool' Brandrud.
We really hope that you'll enjoy Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run when it launches on 17th November 2012.
