Platinum Love The 3DS, But Are Too Busy To Work On It Right Now

A case of "what if"
Platinum Games executive director Atsushi Inaba has expressed his admiration for Nintendo's 3DS console in a recent interview with The Verge, but has also added that the company has too many ongoing projects to fund development for a 3DS game at present.
He said:
We are very interested in the Nintendo 3DS as a platform. I view 3DS as a proper, straightforward evolution from a platform that has had huge success. Being able to view stereoscopic 3D with the naked eye is a great innovation, but very straightforward, so I'm very interested in it.
Currently we have a lot of titles in development, and we can't fund a 3DS game ourselves. So there's nothing in the works. But I'm very positive on it.
Platinum's previous handheld title was Infinite Space on the DS, released in Japan way back in 2009 and in the West the following year.

I'd love to see Platinum do a 3DS title.

Considering what they have on the way for the Wii U, it's understandable that there's nothing in the works for the 3DS at the moment.
Hopefully they'll make one sometime in the future, though.

If they ever make a 3DS title, I hope its nothing like Infinite space. That game is easily the worst RPG I've played.

I find it hilarious that the picture caption says "A great innovation", yet NSMB2 is on the 3DS screen! Nice one, Damien.

Platinum on 3DS? I'd kill to see it happen. Infinite Space 2 would be awesome, but I'd rather see what else they'd think up first . . .
