E3 2012: Epic Mickey 3DS Daubs Shelves 18th November
Posted by Mike Mason
Pretty in paint
Last night's 3DS Software Showcase wasn't the frenzy of new games that was anticipated, but some good came of it: a US release date for Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion.
DreamRift's portable take on the series will arrive on North American shores on 18th November 2012. Co-founder / creative director at DreamRift Peter Ong joined 'nicest man in the industry' Warren Spector on the stage to speak about the 2D platformer, which is filled with plenty of Disney favourites, such as Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and good old Scrooge McDuck.
Ong told the audience that DreamRift had been working on a 3DS concept where things drawn on the touch screen could be transferred to the top screen. It pitched the idea to Disney Interactive and the potential for Epic Mickey was clear. It probably also didn't hurt that Ong used to sit down with and complete the original Mega Drive Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse on a daily basis as a child.

If its a Castle of Illusion 2 as it seems, it'll be a worthy purchase.

Ack, so far away! And so close to what I'd potentially estimate the Wii U release date to be! I'd better just set aside the money for this now and forget about it.

I hope to get it before Christmas, so November 18 sounds fair. November is going to be such a huge month with the likely launch of Wii U happening then!

Scrooge McDuck is the 2nd best name for a duck.
The Number 1 spot goes to Quackems the 27th.

Sweet! Sucks that it's supposed to come out near the Wii U likely launch date though...that's so far away.

I think I read Sony has this as the Power of 2 release date a as well, which I thought Sony did to highlight the fact that game won't be on the WiiU, which I also read to be rumoured to be releasing that day as well. How did Nintendo not manage to talk them into releasing Power of 2 on WiiU?

It looks very intriguing so far. If the final game is as good as the gameplay looks so far it's a week one buy for me.
@accc(#12): Did you play it? Or do you mean it looks sluggish to you?
