Animal Crossing 3DS and Fire Emblem Hit Europe in 2013
Posted by James Newton
Lazy days
Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata just confirmed two much-anticipated Nintendo 3DS titles, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem: Awakening, will not reach 3DS until next year.
Nintendo had previously announced Fire Emblem for 2012, but Shibata said Nintendo wants to work hard on developing the best games possible. Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem are now due to reach Europe in the first half of 2013, which means there is a maximum one-year wait until you can play these titles in Europe.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed Fire Emblem will reach North America in 2013. He didn't have anything to say about Animal Crossing.

Fire Emblem was only announced for Europe originally. Now we are both getting it next year. So it's safe to assume we're getting AC next year too. Don't worry guys.

I don't play Animal Crossing, but I have to ask. How does it take THIS long to make an animal crossing game?

I'm really excited for this, and I'm sure it'll be released in the US next year as well. But with an army of great 3DS games coming this year like Paper Mario, Luigis Mansion, and NSMB2, hopefully the wait won't be THAT bad...
Hopefully........

While I do believe Nintendo will continue to work on and polish these 2 games, it appears to me more of a strategic decision. New Super Mario Bros 2 and Luigi's Mansion 2 will do the business for the rest of 2012 so it's no surprise these games have been delayed until next year.

This is a let down, but it is going to be developed, since it was said this will be the best Animal Crossing title to be published so I hope it does.

Well, I wasnt expecting it to come this year anyway. Good to know Nintendo still knows it exists though! The fact that it's coming out in Japan this fall means I'm expecting it in January though Nintendo. >:0

So, there's a couple of anticipated first party games not coming out this year, leaving a small handful of first party titles still to come (that people actually care about), but it's no problem because of all the third party AAA titles coming this year for 3DS, right...?

Considering Animal Crossing has been in development for about 3-4 years now.
Why the wait?

Good plan. AC games usually take forever to get to europe, with the NA version releasing Before or shortly after Japan's release. I think it will come to america in 2012, if not then jan 2013.

It's funny those are the only two games I'm really looking forward to, and they both always get brought up at the same time lately...
