Still partying, but not as much

Last week was a major holiday in Japan, and the Japanese charts brought golden results for Nintendo. This week brings more of the same in terms of chart positions, but it seems that all games and platforms have endured a major dip in sales after all of that holiday splurging.

As reported by Andriasang, Mario Party 9 retains top spot but its unit sales dropped from 144,585 to 37,353; it's joined in the top ten by six 3DS titles, with life to date sales shown in parentheses.

[WII] 01. Mario Party 9 (Nintendo, 04.26.2012): 37,353 (334,821)
[3DS] 02. Fire Emblem Awakening (Nintendo, 04.19.2012): 16,530 (361,790)
[PS3] 03. Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City (Capcom, 04.26.2012): 14,553 (319,505)
[PS3] 04. Starhawk (Sony, 05.10.2012): 12,873
[3DS] 05. Super Mario 3D Land (Nintendo, 11.03.2011): 11,260 (1,574,788)
[3DS] 06. Monster Hunter 3G (Capcom, 12.10.2011): 9,105 (1,442,475)
[3DS] 07. Mario Kart 7 (Nintendo, 11.03.2011): 9,045 (1,704,350)
[3DS] 08. Kid Icarus Uprising (Nintendo, 03.22.2012): 7,636 (269,519)
[3DS] 09. Mario & Sonic at London Olympics (Nintendo, 03.01.2012): 4,933 (162,270)
[PSP] 10. Conception Please Give Birth to My Children (Spike Chunsoft, 04.26.2012): 4,600 (44,639)

It's more of the same in the hardware chart, with 3DS once again outselling all rivals combined. Last week's sales are in parentheses this time, and do a good job of showing the major decrease after the Golden Week festivities.

1. 3DS: 46,425 (91,868)
2. PS3: 12,996 (23,478)
3. PSP: 12,247 (20,033)
4. PSV: 6,340 (10,583)
5. Wii: 6,073 (15,789)
6. PS2: 1,212 (1,611)
7. X360: 1,023 (1,420)
8. DSi LL: 819 (1,097)
9. DSi: 387 (814)

Although the drop in sales across the board may have been anticipated, Nintendo can at least celebrate having the lion's share of the purchases that were made.
