UK Retail Reports Red 3DS Reaching Really Rare Rating

It's Christmas time, and you may need to be afraid if you're after a red 3DS, according to a report from MCV.

The trade magazine claims UK retailers are struggling to keep the red 3DS in stock in the run up to Christmas, with other colours also tough to get hold of. The releases of Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land and a high-profile advertising campaign have all contributed to an increase in sales for the portable, with GAME Group's Iain Johnson hoping there's more to come:

I got mine last Friday (it's black though) and I love it.
Where is DHL ? They should have been here hours ago with my MARIO 3D!

Is anyone really suprised by this? New nintendo console+christmas= MASSIVE SALES. Kinda brings back bad memories of the Great Wii Shortage of 2007.

I think red is the colour my sister has opted for. I don't think I'd swap my black 3DS just to have another colour...unless they bring out Luigi Green!

I know at my Walmart and Target, the red 3DS was gone with few blacks and blues. The day after Black friday, there were no 3ds in stock.

I personally think the red 3DS is the rep. for that console and always have since it was shown on that E3 website back in 2010 where it was shown alongside blue and black.

And I'm happy to see different color choices raining in. A yellow and orange 3ds will look gorgeous :D

but news that the red 3DS is selling out is a positive sign for nintendo. that's good to hear. having more colour ranges, as well as say mario, zelda, metroid, kirby, donkey kong, pokemon editions will definitely boost sales.

I was going to get red, but then I saw the Zelda 3DS and got that instead. Both are really beautiful. Oh well, at least I still have my red Micro.
