Keiji Inafune's King of Pirates is the Cutest Pirate Game Ever

Such big eyes

Forget Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure: there's a new contender on the block for "most adorable pirates".

Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune just unveiled the trailer for his new 3DS game, King of Pirates, and it's full of all the things we love about video games: action, pirates, penguins and an eagle holding a coffee mug.

The game's official website gives a brief English introduction: three warring races — Aves, Beasts and Scales — are searching for the lost Lucifer Coin, which grants the holder ultimate power to rule the ocean.

Inafune also leaves a message on the site, outlining his intentions for the game and closing simply "I will not disappoint you".

Here's the teaser trailer below. Try not to say "awww" too much.

Now we wait and see what the heck this game's going to be.

Nice animation, but...I really wish they'd show actual gameplay, or at least show what kind of game this'll be.

Oh well, time to play the waiting game. I have high hopes for this.

Lovin' the visuals, lets just hope the actual game turns out be something interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I love that the Monkey Kong is in this video. Also, the eagle's mug says "Comcept" on it, just so you know.

I'm looking forward to this more than I was Legends 3. And I say that as a huge Mega Man fan.

I wasn't too fond of Zack & Wiki (the 'logic' aspect of the puzzles were all over the place), but hot-damn, that is one mighty fine trailer!

Now for some gameplay footage please Inafune-san!

That scene with the coin falling in the water reminded me a lot of Pirates of the Caribbean.
I'm pretty stoked about the game, BTW.

It looks good, I'm going to need to watch this and if this is what he'll be up to on his own, I can't wait to see more. Megaman Legends 3 would have been nice to try out as an eshop download but this looks like it's superior by a long shot.

I like how the trailer starts out innocent and kind of cute and then we see the burning ships. Looks like the game will also be dark, I like that, I don't know why but the suggestion of evil and horrible things on such a beautiful looking world makes such a great contrast that I like it.

Reminds me of One Piece.

I doubt I will be getting this as I don't like the premise or the way the characters look but Zack & Wiki is awesome!

This doesn't look to be up my alley. I'll keep an eye on it for a while, though.

I read in Ngamer that this will be an RPG!!

no further details were revealed but it did mention that there will be 300 characters in game all trying to survival?

So am kinda of excited see sum game play now.

Over at IGN, some of the comments are ignorantly blaming Keiji for stopping his Mega Man project and starting this instead. I love it.

Strong shout-outs to the creator for going back and giving 3DS owners something to be excited about even after his game was canceled by Capcom.

Penguins AND Pirates!!!??? My poor, fragile heart, I need 10cc's of gameplay footage stat, Inafune!

I'm definitely interested - the game looks cool and we need to support Inafune. Hopefully, if this is a success, it'll make a statement of intent which irks the executives at crapcom

I wish the site mentioned if it was coming out of Japan, I know it has an english option but to only mention it for Japan strikes me as odd

A coin falling into the ocean, a giant sea monster attacking a fleet. Its like Pirates of the Caribbean all over again

Sure looks lovely and i can't wait to learn more about it. The only small gripe i have is that the talking isn't really in sync with the characters lips. But of course that's easily tolerable when the rest of the game is great.
I also hope that the English subtitles mean it's meant to come to the west too.

Hmmm, to early to tell if it will be good or not. But it's from the creator of Megaman, so I keep an eye on it!
