Dragon Quest Monsters Remake Charts a Course for 3DS

Taking up arms again
While today sees the launch of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 in North America, there's more Dragon Quest news to go around, as Square Enix has confirmed it's remaking Dragon Quest Monsters (or Dragon Warrior Monsters as it's also known) for the 3DS.
The Game Boy Color original was the first game in the series to make it to North America and Europe back in 1999, but the upcoming remake will include plenty of new content: Square Enix has confirmed the monsters from DS outing Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional will all feature alongside brand new stories, monsters and items.
The revamped game — called Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D to give it its full title — will see release in Japan in 2012.

Hmm.. never got I chance to play the original, but it does seem as though Square Enix is making alot of Dragon Quest Monsters Games at once. So I guess ill wait for this instead of picking up the ones on ds

Ooh Square Enix, why did you choose the original? The sequel actually had a more independant and more captivating storyline, a better world exploration mechanic with keys, more challenge in that not every single boss joins you (making wild monsters practically obsolete). I'm REALLY happy this got a 3DS remake, but at the same time so dissapointed that its not DQM2...
If this game gets localised and they stick to the game perspective mode (not 3D like Joker) then this will be my most wanted 3DS game (Yes - even more than Mario Kart; thats how good DQM is).

Finally! 3D Visuals! Broader Wi-fi access! Tag mode that might actually find people!
Oh, well, I guess they haven't confirmed all of that yet, but they will! Right? ...Pretty please?

Finally a 3DS game I am excited about, and it doesn't bother me that it's a remake. Here's hoping they actually push the graphics of the 3DS, and add in the online features of the DS games (and more hopefully)

I'll keep an eye on this, but I'm not really excited for it, seeing as I already have the original GBC version.

Never really played any of these spinoffs. Sounds like it could turn out to be a phenomenal remake though.

@19, you really should. It is an amazing spinoff series and one that in all honesty competes with the original.
