Nintendo Download: 25th April 2011 (North America)

DSiWare gets the lion's share

Put the excitement about the new Nintendo console out of your mind for a while and enjoy the Monday tradition that is the Nintendo Download.

Most of the focus is on DSiWare this week, with one title on WiiWare and no Virtual Console outing due to the release of Mega Man X last week.

DSiWare

Inchworm Animation (Flat Black Films, 500pts) — We already have Flipnote Studio aimed at those who want to dabble in a little animation, but Inchworm is pitched towards those who take the craft a bit more seriously. Full colour animation, layers, the ability to export as Flash video and more will hopefully mark this one out as a worthy addition to the DSiWare library. Expect our full review soon.

Airport Mania: First Flight (Lemon Team, 200pts) — The second slice of Airport Mania to come to DSiWare following the port of mobile outing Airport Mania: Non-Stop Flights, this has more in common with Airport Mania: First Flight on WiiWare. Confused? Our forthcoming review will make everything clear.

Ubongo (Korner Entertainment, 500pts) — Last week saw the release of Ubongo on WiiWare, and now Korner has condensed the board game into a DSiWare download. Expect our review in the coming week.

WiiWare

Word Searcher Deluxe (Digital Leisure, 500pts) — A sequel to the disappointing Word Searcher from 2009, this new title is notable for featuring downloadable content from day one. New puzzle packs will be uploaded each Monday, costing 100 Points each. We'll give you our verdict on the game itself in our review this week.

WiiWare Demo

Learning with the PooYoos Episode 3 (Lexis Numérique, full version: 500pts) — The final instalment in the pre-school learning series, check out our Learning with the PooYoos Episode 3 review for more information.

Inchworm sounds very promising. I'd like to do more advanced stop-motion animation than Flipnote will allow, and this looks like it might be the ticket.

This isn't a bad week for DSiWare, I'll be getting Inchworm and First Flight. But not until the eShop launches.

All the comments here are a bit on the negative side... I think Inchworm looks extremely promising and reaqlly makes this weeks group of games. I might just spring for this on my DSi with my remaining points. I said when 3DS came out I would not buy any DSiWare until the eShop launched but I might just go back on that and take a risk for this one...I love that it can display full color photos in picture animation!

Inchworm and First Flight make it a pretty solid week for me. I won't get it until the May update though. :( These games and Mega Man X and DodoGo Robo have made the last two weeks somewhat tolerable when it comes to quality at least.

At first I thought it said "Airport Mama." That would have been interesting. She's already done crafting, cooking, and babysitting.

I'm not buying any DSiWare until the 3DS eShop launches and my Wii needs to go off for repairs; so no purchases for me.
