Everyone's after a slice of the music gaming pie these days, with the latest – and arguably one of the most impressive – titles being the pocket studio Rytmik. Now Digital Leisure is aiming to do for WiiWare what Cinemax did for DSiWare with the announcement of Mix Superstar.

With over 1,000 royalty-free loops included across dance, hip hop and techno it sounds as though there's plenty of choice, and the ability to download extra samples in other styles from the Wii Shop Channel via Pay and Play could open the game up further, if attractively priced.

Two of the big things missing from Rytmik look to be heading to Mix Superstar, namely vocal tracks and the ability to export your song. Full support for Wii Speak and USB microphones is promised for vocal work, with the ability to transfer your song to computer (though it's not specified how) and send them to Wii-owning friends in order to work together on creating your banging tunes.

This is all sounding very promising and hopefully the package and its samples will be varied, powerful and priced well enough to offer musicians ample opportunity to craft their tracks.
