Dive: The Medes Islands Secret Surfacing on WiiWare Soon

Cosmonaut Games releases a gameplay trailer for the 2D adventure platform game

The WiiWare range of games have certainly given us some of the most stylish and original games available and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. Cosmonaut Games has let us know that their upcoming Dive: The Medes Islands Secret is now in its testing phase and a release date should be announced soon.

The game is an adventure platformer but with a slightly different premise; it's set underwater at a site where an ancient monastery supposedly sank due to a violent earthquake centuries ago. As an explorer, you will be setting off to The Medes Island and exploring the locations in search of ten treasures in ten different 'real-world' locations around the globe. There's a second and a third objective; both will become apparent as the player progresses through the game. How mysterious!

The developers predict a minimum of five hours to complete the game but what it may lack in duration, the aesthetics certainly makes up for. We think the backgrounds have been designed and rendered beautifully; with a nice depth perception created to enhance the environments.in a way that makes this title one of the more eye-pleasing WiiWare games. Be sure to check out the official trailer below to witness some gameplay footage and tell us what you think.

Nintendo Power says this is co-developed by Over the Top. The creators of NyxQuest so I'm definitely sold.

The co-development makes sense. I was reminded of NyxQuest's relaxed vibe (the one the early levels have). Hopefully it will also have that challenge level that makes NyxQuest far from relaxing!!

Yeah that looks really nice. I loved the aesthetics of Nyxquest (still Icarian on my Wii!) and it looks like the magic is here too!

As a big fan of Endless Ocean and the Ecco games this just went to the top of my list for anticipated Wiiware games.

@SeanAaron - It's still Icarian on my Wii too :) I didn't like the new name so I never "updated" hehe.
