Super Mario Kart Hits Virtual Console on Monday
Posted by Corbie Dillard
The wait is finally over.
Well Super Mario Kart fans have waited long and hard for the Super Nintendo classic to make an appearance on the North American Virtual Console service, but it seems the wait is finally about to be over.
Gamespot has just announced that Nintendo has confirmed to them that Super Mario Kart will be released on the North American Virtual Console service on Monday, November 23 for 800 Wii Points. They went on to say that Pilotwings and Super Smash Bros. will also be made available on the service before the end of the year.
Looks like it's going to be a great holiday season for Nintendo fans with these three Nintendo classics, not to mention Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks coming before the end of 2009.

SMK = No thanks (Got MKDS)
Pilotwings = No thanks (Got the 64 sequel)
SSB = No thanks (Got SSBB, and I am still burned out)
In short, nothing for me, but please release Castlevania Rebirth, k thx.
Even then, this can be taken with a grain of salt; why on Earth of all publications that NoA chose they picked Gamespot.

Earthbound..! x( Indeed. I've played it on an emulator, but I want to try the real thing..! And don't blame me for being illegal, what other options do I have? The game was never released in Europe, and importing a copy and buy an NES would cost a fortune... I would buy Earthbound the it hit VC, if it does.

Great news but I thought it'd come to the UK first as Nintendo having been doing with most of their big VC titles
- oh well can't have them all.
Hope we get it soon - it's such a fantastic game. I'd go as far to say it's one of the best 16-bit titles of all time. I've actually played it recently on a friend's old SNES console and it's still just as fun - I suppose if you have never played it before it wont have the same appeal, but if you have then the nostalgia goes through the roof!

The feather was awesome, great for jumping barriers and landing in the water. You could really escape the koopa shells flying all over the place. We would have like tons of them just covering the screen when playing battle.
Great game....a little dated, but one of the best battle games in the series.

I remember battle mode being really awesome on this, but I often confuse this one and 64. It was quite a long time ago, and my friends and I playing it weren't always entirely, uh, present while playing.
Good times with any mario Karts. Pilotwings is great; oddly relaxing in fact, but the 64 sequel is arguably better, why not just give us that one?
I thought nothing would shut up the complainers for SSB so now its turned to "Shantae: Risky's Revenge"?! I about died laughing. Dumbest game name ever, and what a strange thing to lament.
