Check out the newest batch of screenshots from the upcoming DSiWare release.

The good folks at Square-Enix were kind enough to send us over the latest batch of screenshots from the upcoming English release of their DSiWare title Dragon Quest Wars.

You can take a look at the new screenshots below, along with a snippet of information that accompanied them.

Dragon Quest Wars is a Nintendo DSiWare™ grid-based strategy game featuring every DQ fan’s favorite, quirky Dragon Quest monsters. Players will be able to choose from several modes and maps, assemble their own unique squad and battle in classic Dragon Quest fashion!

Players will place monsters into position with their stylus and select magic cards to execute attacks. They can win battles by either defeating all enemy squad members or entering your opponent’s goal zone. With the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, players can also skirmish with up to three other players from across the world. To stay on top, they’ll need to think fast—metal slime fast!

Dragon Quest Wars Features:

  • Choose and assemble your 4-member squad from popular Dragon Quest monsters
  • Battle up to three other opponents – or battle a friend in Versus mode.
  • Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and DS Download Play Multiplayer

We'll have more information on Dragon Quest Wars as it becomes available, as well as a full review of the game when it hits the DSiWare service.

I've never even heard of this until now. So it's like DQ version of YuGi Oh?

I am a huge Dragon Quest fan. I have very high hopes for this game considering the fact that Intelligent Systems is developing it. The screenshots look great and I am very excited about it.

Hey, for $5 this is good stuff but I'm not really a DQ fan, buuut the Wi-Fi skirmishes are tempting... Hardy83 is right, DSiWare is getting better but they need to BE better if they wanna appeal to the portable audiences.
I just hope PSPgo doesn't steal DSiWare's thunder with the PSP Minis service.
