Tales of Monkey Island takes over the #1 spot!

It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available on the Wii Shop Channel. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop Channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that easy!

We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.

Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

Here is the list for the 5th of August:

1 (11) - Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1
2 (1) - Reel Fishing Challenge
3 (2) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My life as a Darklord

* (N) - Denotes a brand new entry on the Top 20
* (-) - Denotes a game that was not on the Top 20 last week

Well we have a new #1 this week with Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 taking over the top spot from Reel Fishing Challenge, which fell one spot to #2. World of Goo also dropped another spot this week, continuing its trip down the Top 20 after many weeks at the top.

The big climber this week was of course Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1, which jumped ten spots to #1. The big droppers this week were Final Fantasy IV: The After Years and Ant Nation, both of which fell three spots to #6 and #15 respectively.

The debut of HB Arcade Cards at #20 sent BIT.TRIP CORE off the Top 20. Can it make a comeback next week? And while we didn't see any of this week's WiiWare releases debut on the chart, we have a sneaky feeling that one particular title might make a huge jump on next week's Top 20 list.
