Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (24th June)

It's Wednesday again and time for the WiiWare Top 20!

It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available on the Wii Shop Channel. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop Channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that easy!

We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.

Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

Here is the list for the 24th of June:

1 (1) - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
2 (2) - Texas Hold'em Tournament
3 (4) - My Aquarium
4 (5) - World of Goo
5 (3) - Swords & Soldiers
6 (6) - Tetris Party
7 (8) - My Pokémon Ranch
8 (7) - Bubble Bobble Plus
9 (9) - Dr Mario Online Rx
10 (10) - Defend Your Castle
11 (--) - Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
12 (11) - Onslaught
13 (13) - Cue Sports - Pool Revolution
14 (14) - Fun! Fun! Minigolf
15 (15) - Brain Challenge
16 (17) - Sandy Beach
17 (18) - Bomberman Blast
18 (19) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
19 (16) - Mega Man 9
20 (12) - Adventure Island: The Beginning

* (N) - Denotes a brand new entry on the Top 20
* (--) - Denotes a game that was not on the Top 20 last week

Well Final Fantasy IV: The After Years has managed to hold off Texas Hold'em Tournament for another week in its bid to stay atop the chart, but Swords & Soldiers wasn't so lucky as it dropped two spots to #5. My Aquarium and World of Goo didn't waste any time in beginning their climb back up the chart again. Can these two powerhouses work their way back up to the top spots again? We wouldn't bet against them. :D

The big climber this week was Eduardo the Samurai Toaster, which jumped from off the chart completely, all the way up to #11. Not a bad debut at all. The big dropper this week was Hudson's Adventure Island: The Beginning, which fell 8 spots to #20. Could this be its last week on the chart?

Unfortunately, with the appearance of Eduardo the Samurai Toaster, we did see Silver Star Chess drop out of the Top 20. We'll have to wait and see if it's able to climb back into the Top 20 down the line. Other than that, there wasn't a huge amount of movement this week in the Top 20.

Well in all fairness, he would have had the Firsties, but I forgot to put in the part about the DSiWare Top 20 moving to Thursdays in the article.

Unfortunately, unless more big games come out in the coming weeks to come, I think the big three or four that were dethroned in early June will just reclaim the top positions. Sword & Soldiers was at 2 only a couple days ago, so I fear that it sold to hardcore gamers very fast and is now being pushed down just as fast. Meanwhile, Adventure Island has been on the list a while, considering. It seems only massive games can stay on the Top 20 for longer than two months, now.

Anyways, my One Year Later will be posted tomorrow.

@ Longtimegamer - I'm a bit busy. I've already had to do the NEVES Plus review and now I'm doing Top 20 not to mention all of this news, uploading two new videos, and a stack of press releases I have to go through. I'll get to the Drill Sergeant review later tonight when things slow down. It's a bit crazy here right now. :)

I havn't looked at the top 20 in quite some time and its good to see a new 1 and 2, but... My Aquarium? still in the top 3? It's like mandatory for you to get MA if you buy a Wii it seems.

MA IS relaxing. I have it as well, I just don't think it's top 3 material. I hope Eduardo TST makes top 3 next week, it deserves it.

Didn't see anyone make a Dutch list (or did so in the past) so I though I post one. I don't know the previous list, so I didn't know who have climbed or have fallen from the list. I'll add that next week.

So here's the Dutch list from 25-6:
1 My Aquarium
2 Texas Hold'em Tournament
3 Swords & Soldiers
4 NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits
5 My Pokémon Ranch
6 Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
7 TV Show King
8 World of Goo
9 Brain Challenge
10 Onslaught
11 Cocoto Platform Jumper
12 FUN! FUN! Minigolf
13 Tetris Party
14 Snowboard Riot
15 Pop Them, Drop Them SAMEGAME
16 EQUILIBRIO
17 Bomberman Blast
18 SPOGS Racing
19 Defend your Castle
20 Sudoku Challenge!

SPOGS and Sudoku's charting?! Really?! These little regional differences sure are peculiar to think about... And no Mega Man there either, makes that game's run in Sweden so much more stand out.

@Djungelurban - Yeah, we Dutch people are pretty stupid ;). I'm kidding of course. But I can't believe we are buying crappy games like SPOGS and Texas Hold'em Tournament. I also don't understand why My Aquarium is on top of the list. I understand that someone could get some fun out of an interactive screensaver but the bestselling WiiWare game? Really?
