Competitions: Follow nintendolife on Twitter

Posted by Darren Calvert

Tell us a joke and be in for a chance to win 2000 Nintendo points.

Here’s an easy competition for all you crazy kids who are down with Twitter. Simply follow nintendolife and tweet us with a funny joke using no more than 140 characters. The tweet which makes us chuckle the most will win the prize – it couldn’t be simpler!

We promise to follow you back too, so you can appear to be even more popular to all your pals on teh interwebs!

The prize on offer is 2000 Nintendo points for the NTSC-U or PAL region, which means this competition is open to residents of North America, Europe and Australia in effect.

Get Twittering folks! We’ll decide who the lucky winner at a random time on Tuesday, 23rd June.

Don’t forget to post your Twitter usernames below so we know who you are!

The competition has now closed! Well done SpaceBooger!

That's why I hate twitter - because everyone follows everyone so they can send each other direct messages etc, even if you don't care about the other person's updates.

I think I'm going to start a service called "Bitter" where you get to gripe and moan about everything in your life in 140 characters or less.

Roopa132 said:

I'm Daniel_Germany on Twitter.

too bad I'm extremely bad at making up jokes...

paulcmnt said:

BTW, I've never used Tweeter before. In order to tweet someone you have to post an update that begins with "@name_of_user", right?
But how do you post an update? I can't find the button.

Dazza said:

@diego_pmc - Sure tweet us as many jokes as you want. We like a good laugh here in Nlife towers. To tweet us just reply to one of tweets (hover over it to see the reply icon).

@Wiiloveit - for someone who hates Twitter you sure are a prolific user!

My user name is chunky_droid. But nintendolife added me as soon as I joined... creepy!

Now thinking of joke

Chunky_Droid said:

I just left a couple of REALLY terrible jokes. Good luck! lol

Just a question: Will the 2000 points be given in the form of an e-mailed redeemable code scratched off the back of a card? Or be presented in the form of 2000 points worth of gifted stuff?

Bahamut_ZERO said:

I hate twitter, so none of this for me.
I'll stick to the old fashion high-speed internet and motion control video game system thank you very much

Dazza said:

@chunky_droid - We might email a code or gift games of your choosing. The winner will get whats coming to them one way or another.

BTW please tweet the jokes publically for all to see, not as private messages

Mik said:

I'm MikaelLevin and I've been following NintendoLife for quite a bit

Dunncor said:

I think e-mailing the code may be better, as you can't gift DSiWare games and someone may want one of them

I'm sick of all these Twitter competitions that keep popping up all over the Internet. I missed out on a competition for the (yet-to-be-released) Zune HD because I needed to join the site hosting the contest and Twitter. No way I'm joining both that site and Twitter for that and this competition isn't going to change my mind. Can't we have a good, old-fashioned e-mail competition?

Wiiloveit said:

@Corbie: DO IT.
@Dazza: I don't mind twitter, but I just hate certain things about it, such as the way that most people on twitter (including myself ) just use it to show off their business and sites, and spam others, as well as how people have to follow someone to direct message them, even if they don't want to recieve updates etc. etc. Otherwise, I like it because of its simplicity.

warioswoods said:

I'm Palinodrome -- I'll try to remember to send something, but it will have to follow the self-imposed wordplay form of my account.

Bensei said:

I'm Ben-sensei.
I really wrote that for school. But it's in German.

So I'm from a PAL region, obviously XD

@Wiilovit: Your comment sound like an alternated quote from Ned Flanders in the episode where he gives much his won feMac. TELE-PARABLIZING!

Egg_miester said:

twitter name is eggman27 and i started to follow nintendolife but i am not good with thinking of jokes so i'll pass on the points

Nero said:

I very rarely use it to write things myself, just seeing what other people say. But since I somehow got added by nintendolife today I might try to think of something funny.

BleachFan said:

I think it would be better if we could post our jokes on to this comment thread...That way it's more accessible to the public, but that's just me.

King_Elemento said:

Personally, I agree with BleachFan, although I am fine with the current setup, I'd rather post my 'jokes' here.

Philip_J_Reed said:

My twitter name is ChickenBrutus.

It's a good thing I posted that here, because you never would have figured it out otherwise.

ueI said:

2000 wii points? I can't turn that down! My twitter name is Philip2nd,
like the Spanish king.

I have now been to twitter and I still dont understand it at all. I just cant find sense to it! this contest is too hard, not only do I have to come up with a good joke, but have to figure out how Twitter works, and that has proven to be the ultimate challenge

ueI said:

I will probably never use Twitter again, but it wasn't so hard just this once.

Machu said:

Seriously dude don't you know anything, Twitter's like y'know the latest thing, its all hip n cool n the kids love it. Well, at least until the next hip cool internet thing comes along.

I'll just follow you on NintendoLife if that's ok NintendoLife.

OldBoy said:

I don't 'twit' or whatever it is you kidz call it so I've posted my joke in the religious thread on the general discussion forums (as it's of a religious nature) feel free to check it out and if you want give me those 2000 points I won't stop you!!!

Twilight_Crow said:

I'm with GabeGreens, I don't understand Twitter at all, and I don't want to make an account there, that service just seems so pointless, It's a shame NL used this method, because I really could use some wiipoints.

Burn said:

I'm BBlackford on Twitter. So far I've tweeted two of my best jokes

I thought it was for the US govt. so they could do something during Obama's speeches, for CNN to get information about Iran, and for people to stalk other people without being thought badly by the person they are stalking ("please come follow me strangers!"). I guess Im clueless . By the way, I agree with Twighlight Crow.

SmaMan said:

Twitter is just the excuse so that CNN doesn't have to actually go out and report things anymore. They just let you do it while they get paid.

Anyhoo, my Twitter name is the same name I use everywhere else*: SmaMan! I'll add you guys in a second...

  • 'cept for my email

James said:

If you're using Twitter in a browser, just type @nintendolife in the box at the top and write your message, then click send. Easy!

Personally I use a program called twhirl, which works nicely. There's different ways of using Twitter but it's worth it! whilst we're sharing

theblackdragon said:

y'know, why wasn't there this much complaining about the Starfy competition? if you don't want to follow the rules to enter, don't enter! it's that simple.

gblock said:

Let's look at some sweet tweets that kick APP!!!

Toddr said:

You guys make us work too hard for these competitions.

Anyway, my name on Twitter is Todd102030. I had to make an account just for this. The things I do for wii points.

BulbasaurusRex said:

I followed your instructions, but my post didn't show up on the Nintendo Life page given by the link in the article. In fact, I hardly see any jokes on there. How do I see the jokes?

(My user name is BulbasaurusRex)

Corbs said:

Corbie, there is a forum for that called (what the f**k)

Ah I'm too late. Oh well. I wouldn't' have time to do it anyway.

KnucklesSonic8 said:

Do you absolutely have to register on Twitter to submit your entry? Can you simply email the joke to the staff?

Corbs said:

No you don't have to register and yes you can email the joke to the staff. You just won't win the points.

KnucklesSonic8 said:

Lol. kk, just curious. Looks like I'm out then. All the best to everyone. Looking forward to seeing even more contests.

Ok, I coudnt resist the points. My account name is gabegreens (I bet you didnt see THAT coming )

EDIT: where are the jokes? Aah, Im confused!

XCWarrior said:

Wow, first GoNintendo, now you guys too? Shame on you NintendoLife, shame on you. I expect you on the pedofile list with the rest of Twitter users soon enough. It's a stalker app!!! Why does no one else realize this?

@XCWarrior-Shh, dont tell them they are being stalked. Twitter is a stalker's dream, and if people are too dumb to understand, they dont deserve to know they are being stalker. I only use Twitter solely to make free wii points
