Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (25th Mar)

It's Wednesday again which can only mean one thing.

It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available in the Wii Shop. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that simple! Trust us, if we can do it, anyone can.

We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.

Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

Well World of Goo makes its return to the top of the charts this week, although the "Big Three" are still intact, just in a slightly different order.

The big climber this week was Bit.Trip Beat, which rocketed from not even making the charts last week, all the way up to #4. How about that for a little retro goodness. CommanderVideo should be quite pleased. The big dropper this week was Gradius Rebirth, which fell six spots down to #20. Could this be its last week on the charts?

There were a few more minor changes in the Top 20 this week, but nothing major. It's nice to see Final Fanasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King moving up a few spots.

For Bit.Trip I am of two minds. On the one hand, WELL DONE! Debuting at #4 is darned impressive, and well deserved. On the other hand...My #@&!)$ Aquarium?! Jeez! Somebody knock that thing out of the top 3 already.

While it doesnt appeal to you or I, think about it, it is 1) cheap, and 2) an inexpensive aquarium.
Real ones cost money and the free ones on pc are known to be FILLED with spyware and adware.
so it is the best choice. At least that is the only reason I can think of

I think My Aquarium has stayed in the big 3 for so long because it's the best WiiWare game to get when you've only got 500 pts. (And if I'm not mistaken, it's the only one, right?) Of course I would rather spend them on an NES game I may not have tried before.

Ah, I knew I was forgetting one... hmm. Maybe a fish tank appeals more to casual gamers than a bunch of button headed stick figures trying to break into a castle. It could also be because DYC is online for free already, and people want to try to get more new stuff for their bucks... I dunno, this list is known to be unpredictable and not at all explainable.

I'm glad World of Goo is back to number 1 and Bit.Trip: Beat skyrocketing to the number 4 position. Hopefully it shows other developers what kind of WiiWare games we want: good ones.

I'm guessing SAMEGAME would hit the charts sometime next week. For the cheap price and addicting gameplay, I'm figuring it's a pefrect compliment to other puzzlers like Dr. Mario Online Rx or Tetris Party.

It's only 500 points

At that price you can have a bit of a look, get a bit of play time, and not feel like you've wasted your money, especially with a novalty like a virtual fish tank. I'm thinking of getting it just to give it a go. It's unique enough that I'll bite and finally get it... along with Mega Man 9 so I still feel like a gamer.

The high entry of BTB may have been affected by the polling date, usually on Wednesday the new entries are still rising so polling later will net a higher position. I'd also be careful about proclaiming a new top X on just one week's sales, the game could have a spike and drop sales curve like Lit or Gradius. Give it a week or two to settle into a more permanent position.

I think it too early to see the storage solution having an effect. If anything the period before the solution (the shop downtime) has more ffect. Next week should be fun though...

I'm curious, how have the VC Arcade games fared over at the VC side?

Apart from that, I'm upset to see LiT gone from the US charts...that has probably sealed its fate as being US-exclusive...

I don't understand why more publishers don't bring games over to Europe. Might just be me but I'm under the impression that most games have longer legs in European markets than in the US and something tells me that a game like LiT would do especially well.
