Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (18th Feb)

Posted by Corbie Dillard

It's Wednesday again which can only mean one thing. It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available in the Wii Shop. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that simple! Trust us, if we can do it, anyone can.

We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.

Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

Here is the list for the 18th of February:

1 (1) - Tetris Party
2 (2) - My Aquarium
3 (3) - World of Goo
4 (4) - Cue Sports - Pool Revolution
5 (5) - Dr Mario Online Rx
6 (N) - LIT
7 (6) - Midnight Bowling
8 (7) - Fun! Fun! Minigolf
9 (14) - Snowboard Riot
10 (9) - Brain Challenge
11 (8) - Target Toss Pro: Bags
12 (11) - My Pokémon Ranch
13 (10) - Sandy Beach
14 (12) - Defend your Castle
15 (13) - Wild West Guns
16 (15) - TV Show King
17 (17) - Mega Man 9
18 (18) - Bomberman Blast
19 (19) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
20 (16) - Tiki Towers

* (N) - Denotes a new entry on the Top 20

Well it seems that fan favorite Pong Toss has finally dropped out of the Top 20. A sad day indeed. But much to no one's surprise, the big three are still holding on, and remain unchanged in position from last week's Top 20 chart.

The big climber this week is Wayforward's LIT title, which jumped all the way from off the charts to the #6 spot. Snowboard Riot made a pretty good leap as well, jumping from the 14th spot to #9 this week. The big dropper this week is Tiki Towers, which dropped from #16 down to #20. It looks like this could be its last week in the Top 20.

There wasn't a lot of movement this week, but it's nice to see LIT debut so high on the chart. Who knows, maybe we'll see Evasive Space on the charts next week.

I should stop the trend of saying first. Oops. Looks like the new top 3 is here to stay for a while. Sorry, WoG. I downloaded you, at least.

Philip_J_Reed said:

I don't want to live in a world where My Aquarium outsells World of Goo.

Major props to Lit, though, for the impressive debut.

Cthuloops said:

Good to see LIT doing good. Can't see why anyone is surprised by WoG falling. It is 1500 points and it stayed in at #1 for a long time, so naturally it would fall eventually.

Dazza said:

Phew I am glad that LIT didn't get overlooked. I am happy to see innovation still gets rewarded with solid sales

I can't believe that it took over 6 months for Pong Toss to fall out of the top 20! That is just crazy!!!

Kaeobais said:

I have a feeling the "Big 3" is gonna be changed next week. WoG is slipping off the charts (after a long reign of greatness) and I wouldn't be surprised if next week WoG was replaced by, say, LIT.

Dazza said:

Bit.Trip Beat should be out soon. I predict it will penetrate the mighty top 3. Onslaught also could do the same when it gets a US release.

Bahamut_ZERO said:

U know the Big 3 represent the 3 main styles of WW. Puzzle, hardcore, and casual. Kind of cool, eh?

@Daz: Sweet. Cant wait 4 the review. Also have u noticed MM9 is on p.3 of reviews? Makes me feel old

>.> I still don't have WoG...

Though I am very surprise My Aquarium is beating that game, let alone staying at top. I guess everyone likes to have fake fish, I would... NO, I did not buy that game either. So put down the pitch forks already.

MarkyVigoroth said:

Are you kidding? (No. Seriously.) I saw the good riddance of Beer Toss a few days ago! If deadbattery-san was here, he would be overjoyed (though he wanted My Pokémon Ranch off, which I wanted the opposite...).

See ya (NOT), Beer Toss. Deleted.

I'm not surprised at Goo falling (it had to happen eventually), but I AM surprised at the staying power of My Aquarium!

XCWarrior said:

@Avatar 7. tkubas1 I still don't own World of Goo. Will eventually, but have too many other games to play, so I've waited.

And I think we won't see any major changes until Onslaught or Bubble Bobble comes out. Then the charts might go nuts.

Does noone report the Canadian sales anymore?

Seeing Snowboard Riot so high does my heart good. The amount of people online and knowing how easy it is to start up a match now is a testimony to the sales the game has received. I for one am happy for HUDSON and I certainly hope this encourages them for the future. And keep in mind, SR got ahead of DYC in 2 weeks! That's quite an accomplishment!

well i thought LIT b in the top 5 close hope it doesnt have a hugh drop next week hopefully ONSLAUGHT will come out on mon that will b the game to knock off 1 of the top 3 games

@Rum Rapture. Welcome!

@KS8. What do you mean? Versus22 does the Canadian charts every week!

@Atlantis. Wait for meeeeeee!!

Wiiloveit said:

@Rum Rapture: yeah, I used to post them up, but recently I've been a tad too busy. Sorry, and thanks for filling my position! Welcome to WWW.

With Lit suddenly appearing like that it mkaes me wonder if the charts represent last 14 days of sales. Then again the European charts have Onslaught in a high position but Wiiware games do come out every 14 days there.

But I'm pleased to see to Lit up there and hope it continues to shine (ugh) enough for someone to publsih it in Europe.

Anybody else think it's a shame that Bubble Bobble only managed to make it to sixth in the Japanese charts?

wiiplayer_415 said:

Does anyone know how you beat the boss in the principals office in Lit. If you know can you please tell me.

anthonyb said:

LOL at UK charts. My Aquarium is number one! What the hell is wrong with this world? What's with the virtual fish everyone's so crazy about?? The U.S. is no better- number two?

Wiiloveit said:

@Raging Shadow: I don't get it either. It should have reached a good position and still be in the top ten now, especially at just 500 Wii Points

KDR_11k said:

There are a few people who like it and the rest thinks it's utter garbage that's not even worth the 500 points.

StarDust4Ever said:

I downloaded Cue Sports the other day, and it is a great game for sure. Haven't tried online yet though. Still, I'm relieved that my purchase did not contribute to World of Goo being knocked down another notch on the totem pole. I'll want no part in that if World of Goo gets bumped again.

I really believe that the "big three" are most likely light-years ahead of the number 4 slot and the others in terms of sales.

Bahamut_ZERO said:

I wonder what'll happen when Onsluahgt comes out. Honestly, I think the guys at WWW play a bigger part than they think. Onslaught will either prove or disprove that. Because on other site, Onslaught aint doin so well, but here it got a 9. If it rockets up to number 3, then I can guess most of them were from WWW.

KDR_11k said:

Maybe it's word of mouth too, almost all user comments I've seen on various sites were very positive. BTW, it's up to #1 here now.

-TR said:

I actualy just downloaded Tetris Party. At least it's not My Aquarium, anyway.
