As it has been about 14 years since the last real console Adventure Island game this is good news indeed! We wonder if Hudson will copy Capcom and make the game entirely 8-bit?
Hudson has also said they have a yet to be revealed puzzle/action game in development, which might use the Balance Board. We personally think this is Tetris Party, which fits the criteria and has yet to be "officially" announced by Hudson.

New Adventure Island is still one of my all-time favorite PC Engine games. Simple yet unbelievably addictive to play. This is the best news I've heard in a long time.
Awesome news! This is more like it!
Im actually quite happy that developers have decided to make wiiware remake / sequals to their long loved games such as Capcoms Megaman series and possibly the Hudsons's Adventure Island series providing they are price at the same Price point as the originals.
I loved the Adventure Island / Wonderboy games and I am soooo looking to any news of this new one.
I still haven't played the original. Hey, folks; should I get WonderBoy or Alex Kidd first?
I like Wonder Boy more
More retro's like Megaman? Sweeet. Can't wait for Tetris Paaarty.
Wow. More WiiWare in the fein of the same style as MegaMan 9.
This is looking great!
I suppose Hudson was first by reviving its Pinball series, but nice! Now if only I liked Wonder Boy/Adventure Island...Still, really cool!
This is great!
I just hope they do stick to the simplicity of the original game.
I love playing those old style NES games and still do, I hope these new ones still have the same feel as the old NES and SNES ones. I much prefer this than the mini game type stuff like beer pong or the stuff that's not good enough for the disc style like the wii ware final fantasy.
Well this is some good news! I hope a lot of developers start making new classic games! As someone else said in the Megaman 9 thread, I'd LOVE to see a new SNES rpg!
Back then game was badass!!!
I'm in the minority on old-new games=yay but if it is fun, then i will still get it
wiiware is a perfect platform for retro remakes, there a ton of sidescrollers with timeless gameplay that could be awesome with a shinier coat of paint (and maybe some oldschool highscore leaderboards)
If this is a remake, it BETTER NOT be a 8-BIT game otherwise I won't be happy!
havent played the oringal so this is cool
I'm all for these updates/remakes/retro-updates but Adventure Island and/or Wonder Boy (excluding the Monster World games) weren't really fun the first time around so, yeah, how about Devils Crush (better than Alien Crush) and a full-on sequel to Star Soldier instead, Hudson?
yyyyyeeeesssss this was one of my favorite game series of all time.
This is what WiiWare is for I believe. Old franchises that couldn't make the leap to the next generation system now have the opportunity to be revived on the WiiWare. I personally am against remakes and "retro-style" graphics (a la Mega Man 9). I would like to see old fanchises refitted with current generation graphics and new gameplay mechanics. Imagine thrown-away games like Mach Runner, Balloon Fight, Star Tropics, and Alex Kidd finding a new platform to become profitable franchises in WiiWare. I think it would be awesome.
what is this series? is it fun? y is it fun?
I've never played it. I might look into it if it comes out.
I haven't played Adventure Island for 10 years and that was just a short but fun go. It's great to see old franchises like this make a comeback after so long.
Pst, "Meijin" isn't his name, guys.
Sega should make a new Wonder Boy game to compete with this.
they should remake demons crest
@andy836 Why remake that?
well not remake but make a squeal or something it was a great game.
Yeah i guess it was cool i have it for Snes
I kinda liked the character of Master Higgins more than Wonder Boy...not sure that I like either one of them enough to buy a WiiWare remake
@ Adamant: But it is what he's almost always called, pay your respects to Master Takahashi
Come on New Adventure Island 2! Then let the sequel be Super Adventure Island 3
Would love to see this happen. Would download it.
Now we just need a new 8 or 16 bit Metroid platformer in development and I'll be happy...
@ badmouthsadmouth- And a Kirby platformer.
Make it 3d. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
@x.SuperMario.x- Oooh yeah! Kirby would be awesome. I'd also kinda like in my lifetime to see sequels to some of the "black sheep" games of the Nintendo franchise (like Super Mario 2 and Zelda 2). Wiiware'd be pefect for these oddballs to be re-booted, I think. It probably won't happen, but I can dream. T_T
I hear you, badmouthsadmouth. When Super Mario Advance was previewed for GBA I rejoiced thinking it was a true sequel to SMB2. It ended up being a remake with minor changes, I´d love to see more NES / SNES sequels. The Adventures of Link 2 would be awesome.
Wonder if it actually will be released on WiiWare. Looking back now, I'm pretty confident it will be
how i get this game?
