Welcome to WiiWare World

Posted by Damien McFerran

Stay a while, stay forever!

As you're most probably aware, Nintendo’s new WiiWare service launched in the US today and to coincide with this truly momentous event we’re also lifting the lid on WiiWare World, your one-stop resource for all things related to the gaming portal.

You might recognise some of the faces here from our stupendously successful sister sites Virtual Console Reviews and Nintendo Life. With this new venture we aim to bring the same high quality reviewing and news reporting that fans of our other sites will already be accustomed to.

Currently the site is packed with news and game profile pages, many of which contain screenshots and video footage. Over the next few days you’ll notice that reviews begin to appear as our staffers get to grips with the new titles that have recently been released. As the site begins to gather speed we’ll be looking to bring you exclusive interviews and other exciting content.

So feel free to have a look around and please register if you haven’t done so already. If you’re already a member of Virtual Console Reviews then you’ll be happy to know that your user name and password work here, too. Why not fire off a few comments and let us know what you think of the new site? Our technical whizzkid Ant has been slaving over this for quite some time, and I'm sure you'll agree it looks fantastic!

Great site guys, everything looks top notch!

Really looking forward to having a better look round and I'm highly anticipating the new reviews

Dazza said:

We have the new WiiWare reviewers all chained together surrounded by a stack of Wiis. They are are occasionally being beaten with sticks to work faster! The reviews will be ready soon

Clayfrd said:

I wasn't being impatient; I was just wondering if they would be writing the first few reviews or if the vets (you) would be writing them.

Clayfrd said:

This is totally unrelated, but who thinks that N should make a New Super Mario Bros. 2 based on Mario 2? Anyone? It would be interesting to see sequel to a game that was not only a dream, but barely a Mario game!

konkerdoodle said:

That may be one of the most off-topic comments I've ever seen in my life

Looks good guys. I'm excited!

Clayfrd, I can't say that I really enjoyed Super Mario Bros. 2... it was just to weird. I don't know. And as I kid I thought it was too difficult. But as for a sequel... I'm not sure how it would work, considering it was a dream. I mean, is it about a dream that he had the next day?

Clayfrd said:

@DJ Triforce- It could be! I beat SMB2 for the first time not too long ago. It could even work as a real life occurance. Shy Guys exist in several Yoshi games, so some of the dream's occurances are canon. The best part would be New Super Mario Bros. 3. We could finally get another go at the Tanooki Suit!

Clayfrd said:

@Dazza- Wait, shouldn't you know why I'm so anxiously awaiting the new reviews? Of all things, I actually want to be busy!

Congrats, guys. Although I sometimes disagree with your reviews, you guys manage to chug out some of the best info related to the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo overall. Heck, I even depend on your reviews since they are always consistent (and I shall concede, they sometimes beat my opinions). So, here's to your new site guys and I hope it prospers. Heck, I know it will.

I'm happy the new site is up .
I went to check for any response to a Wiiware releated article & as you guess it sent me to this site .
I'm happy even if myself personally find the design to be a bit ugly other than that i be looking ahead & forward to the furture of this site

It's so white.

Nice site, it's just like VC-reviews, but it has a different feel. I like the new chat feature that's pretty cool. And it's great that your making this site it's very own forum. Also I'm happy that i can finally see the new posts, it annoyed me so much before that i would have to guess to see any new posts.

good job guys.

Clayfrd said:

Thank you, Ant! It looks great. I have to say, though, I really hope you plan to put in the gray stripes as a background (like VCR).

DJ_Triforce said:

Clayfrd, I had a problem with the game, as a child... but I haven't really taken the time to go back and play it. Plus, knowing that it was a re-skinned game made it feel like a lie. I don't know. It was sad. But the game looks great.... you can't deny that... but a sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3 II... That's a game I could put my time into.

Loving the site Great going

The reviews will really be helpful to me in deciding which WiiWare games to get. Also looking forward to the RSS-bit working soon (Get to it code-monkey Otherwise there is no banana for you for dinner!!! )

Herandar said:

Nice job guys. Shall we commence to bitch about the lack of storage on the Wii now?

Charco said:

Site looks excellent guys. Well done and looking forward to more top-quality info from the VCR team.

KnucklesSonic8 said:

^ Sure does. I look forward to it also.

It's just too bad I missed the post about being able to write Reviews for the team because my PC was down and I would have accepted the opportunity easily. Oh well.

Objection said:

Great new WHITE site. Can't wait for reviews. This is the future, since I kind of think VC is going to die off soon. (Earthbound first of course.)

KnucklesSonic8 said:

WiiWare certainly is the future. A future I embrace with open arms!

Can't wait to see the Forums go up.

Shortay said:

Will I have to register on the new WiiWare forum or will my VC-Forum membership be carried over?

Dazza said:

@Shortay - The WiiWare forum will use your normal VC:R/WWW login. Watch this space!

@The reviewers will be revealed soon when we put the reviews live in the morning! Not long now! Demon212 didn't apply, he is too busy doing Podcasts!

Villain said:

Whoa, I'm late by a whole day. Site looks very fresh, but still familiar to us from, which is great! Thanks to the Trinity D and huge thanks to mr Ant!

ChocoDK said:

Cool thanks Dazza for posting the links but sadly still no FFCC review which I am waiting for. But I understand seeing how the game is a sim type.
