Selling like hot cakes!

Early figures from Famitsu magazine indicate that Nintendo has dominated the Japanese sales charts over the Christmas period.

Although a PS2 title (Super Robot Taisen Original Generation Gaiden) took the number one position, a quick glance at the rest of the top 20 shows that the Big N is firmly in control; 7 of the top 10 titles are for Nintendo consoles and there are no 360 or PS3 titles in the top 20.

Recent hardware sales in Japan support this positive picture, with the Wii and DS selling 195,000 and 162,000 units respectively. The PSP enjoyed a good Christmas with 158,000 consoles sold, but the PS3 could only manage 49,000 and the 360 a paltry 9,200. Clearly the Wii is effortlessly winning the next-gen war in Japan.
