I'm actually reviewing it so I picked it up. Only got to fight the first opponent, but I like what I see and hear; gameplay is nice. Between this and Ghostslayer I think I'll have to keep my motion+ on the NA Remote - good think I'm getting the motion+ bundle for Red Steel 2!

Thats remains me-i gotta Preorder Red Steel 2, looks so killer of a game, How is idracula for wiiware?

Nicely done been through 10 bosses or opponents already. I wish you the best of luck on the challenge mode.

Challenge mode is a lot of fun, and a lot harder than you probably expect. The first few bosses aren't that bad, but the later
ones are hard for me, and I've been playing the game for 12 months.

I'm up to the 4th boss, any tips in combat?

Sure, which boss are you on and which attack are you having trouble with?

I'll be getting this and Rondo of Blood this week. I was going to download today, but the weather was so nice I ended up playing outside with the kids instead. LOL!

I'm glad to know that others are enjoying the game! Makes me want to start right in!

Dracula: Undead Awakenings? It's okay, nothing to do with this though - you can probably still find the thread and my review with a little searching (hint, "Dracula").

This really is a great game and whilst I do enjoy the motion plus for the immersion and satisfaction of whacking enemies on the noggin, the NES-style gameplay is perfectly acceptable until you've got the attachment, so I wouldn't hold off on account of that. Even using Nunchuk-Remote - whilst simplified - is a good way to play, though it's more like playing Sonic & Mario Beijing Olympics 2008 with the alternating 'chuk/'mote movements.

I have 1000 pts that I am saving for cave story but this game (rage of the gladiator) looks pretty good.

Yes the graphics looks are basic but considering that is a 40 MB game it looks like a very complete game, with good content and very fun to play. And the WM+ option makes it more interesting.

So are you getting this game, or not, on day one or maybe later? Me, I may pick it later but is definitely in my wiiware list.

I will be getting this game...hoooh yes...

So is that a yes about the Phantom Zone and that glass imprisonment combo?

I googled Phantom Zone and Rage of the Gladiator and I found a page on your site that mentions the attack, the URL says Phantom Zone at the end of it.

Also spoilers

Nope. It was his electricity attack.

My solution was to not let him perform it. Challenge Mode is really hard (though maybe that was because I was playing NES-style).

Got the game yesterday night and have to say it's VERY FUN! I'm at Garadan (sp) in regular mode. My daughter keeps bugging me to keep playing which isnt that hard to get me motivated in the first place.

Great game Ghostfire!

Ok, so if I really liked Punchout, but never finished the game because it got just too dang hard, how likely is it that the same thing won't happen for me in this game? I should note, though, that part of the problem with Punchout was that I mostly liked to play it with remote+nunchuck, but when the game got harder that became less practical. I didn't have as much fun with the classic controller style, though it was still fun, it as also very difficult when I switched over. So if the MotionPlus works great for this maybe that solves my problem.

I play with Nunchuch/ Controller and the controls are awesome! Very responsive and easy to use. I'm now in challenge mode which is a big step higher, but I love the challenge. Get it! Challenge mode, but I like the challenge.

Man, I'm funny. :)

I've never played Punch-Out!! other than the arcade version, but I find this much more approachable, probably because you have the skill tree to help you increase damage or defense so you can compensate for weak areas.

So what's everyone's skill tree plan? I'm maxing out Defense with enough in Magic to get the Lightning Bolt attack combo, since the Magical Barrier "combo" sucks. After I beat the first 9 opponents, I'll have just enough points to unlock the "Phantom Zone" attack for the last one. Do you get more skill tree points for beating opponents in Challenge Mode?

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

My feelings are this, Once I get a feel for my opponent, he won't stand a chance. So, I personally go for heavy offense with lighter sprinkles of defense, followed by a bit of magic.

The best defense is your ability to dodge and strike. So, why not STRIKE with a bit more umph!

Yes you do continue to get more points for beating opponents in Challenge Mode

It does not matter what rank you get for beating the opponent as the reward is always 3 points.
So in regular mode you will have earned 30pts to use in the skill tree for Challenge mode.

I am also wanting to help those stuck getting to Challenge Mode and have some of my save files to share.
1. Just starting challenge mode and you pick your own skill tree...
2. Used the skill points and finished Targon in Challenge Mode

I don't think I have a S rank on anyone.
I kept restarting trying different routes in the skill tree to beat Targon in Challenge mode.
In my previous save files I did get a lot of S ranks.
But like I was saying a S rank does not earn more skill points.

The magic route was fun but I noticed fighting Targon (Challenge Mode) in the 3rd round once you get his life half way down and use the spell "Rage of the Colossus" that he ends up getting more life after the attack as it does not finish him.

The Offence route is the best way to go as each hit takes more life from your opponent.

Some of the defence is nice but most is not needed.
Like the Shield Block Mastery (I don't idle) and Mystical Block (I don't use the shield to block either).
I end up getting hit because I am either moving away from the attack to soon or to late.
That or I miss my opportunity to hit back because I started attacking to early so the opponent goes into the next attack and I have to keep dodging for my next turn.

Also a heads up for some of you.
Sometimes you need to swing right away in the 3rd round like with Ixthid and Lord Vensor to stop those wild unblockable looking attacks.
The best time to start a spell is after you hit them four times as the fifth hit is the end of your turn.

I Also Personally I like playing NES style and even have motion plus as I find it faster to hit back and you don't get as tired.
