They made some weird choices for the motion control schemes. For WM+, it's not 1-to-1. You just get to swing left, right, up, and down, and hold B while swinging for low attacks left and right. Shouldn't they have been able to do that without WM+? Without WM+, it's even weirder, as swinging the Wiimote in any direction swings your warhammer one way, while swinging the nunchuck in any direction swings it the other way, with a certain button press in combination with the swings for the respective low attacks. Still, the WM+ control scheme appears much better than without WM+, and although I haven't tried NES style, I like the motion controls enough to keep using them.

Overall, it's a great game. I just wish I could fight previous opponents again (with no extra skill tree points available) without beating the game or starting a new game.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

@Bubblesaurus Rex.

You can go back and fight previous opponents. Just hit the left button when on the Boss selection screen. :)

I noticed with Motion Plus you can strike down and up with the hammer and do a shield bash. This isn't possible NES style? BTW this game was worth the wait. :)

I took the plI decided to download this game I think the game is pretty fun, i'm up to the Sea Witch (opponent 3) the graphics are very good for wiiware, when the game loads, you have the opinion of 3 types of control, (A button) for old-school NES days, (1 button) for without WMP, or 2 button) for with WMP. You can move or jump by the control stick. swing your weapon left, right, up or down by the wii-remote. Once you've tookin' down your worthy opponent you can upgrade your worrior to the ultimate beast so to speak.

I am through 10 of the bosses, and am now going onto challenge mode (I have been there since 9, but the TV is being used) I will start again as soon as it is free.

Nicely done been through 10 bosses or opponents already. I wish you the best of luck on the challenge mode.

Challenge mode is a lot of fun, and a lot harder than you probably expect. The first few bosses aren't that bad, but the later
ones are hard for me, and I've been playing the game for 12 months.

By the way, if you're using the MotionPlus controls, don't forget to calibrate the Wiimote at the beginning of each play session.

So is A Rank the highest there is?

This is a random question but is one of the combo's inspired by the Phantom Zone in Superman?

Edit: S Rank huh... guess I need to do some rematch's. :)

I'm actually reviewing it so I picked it up. Only got to fight the first opponent, but I like what I see and hear; gameplay is nice. Between this and Ghostslayer I think I'll have to keep my motion+ on the NA Remote - good think I'm getting the motion+ bundle for Red Steel 2!

I was planning on getting this along with Rondo yesterday, but my brothers friend claimed he was a better gamer than me because he could beat me in Modern Warfare 2 (which I had never played) so I had to DL Super Mario Bros. 2 The Lost Levels to show him what real gaming is (You can't bolame me for wanting the win back, right?)
But I'll pick it up Monday along with Cave Story, unless Cave Story is more than 1000 points, in which case I'll just get Rage of the Gladiator.

Sorry for the weeks wait @Ghostfire Scott. It was an ego thing... :(

I feel like gifting you Rage of the Gladiator and you pay mew back later... it really is awesome. I've been waiting for Cave Story too but... I've also been waiting for Rage of the Gladiator and I played a bit of Cave Story already on the PC.

I'm not sure if this was meant for me, but I have no idea how gifting works. (Yeah, I'm an idiot. But the first step is knowing you're an idiot :p )

I'm really enjoying this game. I like how a lot of the tells in this game are aural rather than visual. I just beat Normal Mode, and now I'm on to Challenge Mode. There's one small thing that still bugs me though. There's ONE ATTACK by the 10th opponent I can't figure out how to dodge. I've figured out how to dodge or counter every other attack in Normal Mode. This one just feels like you're guessing. Grrrr....oh, well. I'll get it.
Oh, does anyone know if it'll be possible to eventually purchase ALL of the skills? Or will you run short with your points?
Just wondering....

Push the button, Frank.

Im guessing you are referring to the laugher attack by Lord Vensor the 3rd?

i'm definitely looking forward to getting this when i have the money and a motion plus, so it'll probably have to wait until summer. still, i've been playing old-school punch-out and and about to start re-playing Spartan Total Warrior in anticipation. i figure maybe the combination of the w=two will mix in my brain to give a similar flavor to Rage of the Gladiator.

Nope. It was his electricity attack. But now I got them both. Good stuff.
Now, I'm just having my butt handed to me by the second opponent in Challenge Mode.
Wow, I must say, what a great game for only $10. I'm quite impressed. Do I smell a sequel in the works???

Push the button, Frank.

I'm up to the 4th boss, any tips in combat?
