According to Vblank's Retro City Rampage newsletter, RCR will be released in May. This could just be for the platforms like PC where they have complete control over the release date, though.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

So I guess according to an article on NL's sister site Push Square http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2012/03/retro_city_rampage_to_... Retro City Rampage will be available for the PS3 and PS Vita through retail for $15. What about the Wii version did they cancel that or will that be retail as well? Anyone know?

Oh no, he confused internet popularity with actual popularity didn't he?
If you're referring to the way that I mentioned the PS3 and PSV in my post, maybe there wasn't much point as 8-bit games probably wouldn't sell well at retail on any format (look at Retro game challenge) but the budget price should help.

no I was talking about a hyped indy game mattering to anyone except indy gamers.

As stated on NL's main page, Rush Rush Rally Racing will be released in Europe on April 19.
I've also added an update on Super Motherlode.

I really don't think RCR is coming to the WiiWare service anymore.
It's the only upcoming WiiWare game on my radar so I hope that's not the case, but I would think if you've put a lot of effort into coding it that you wouldn't walk away even if you were going to take a bath on it.
Didn't they say the game was just 16MB or even less? Like being one of the smallest WiiWare games ever? At least we won't have to panic about this game growing over the 40MB size limit.
Yeah the retro graphics are doing it a big favour. In fact I was wondering why more studios didn't go that route rather than trying to make 3D games, but having to scale them down to make them fit. I mean look at how great escapeVektor looks with a minimalist aesthetic.
I'd rather have some new 8-bit arcade-style game than a half-assed 3D shooter that only has a handful of levels.

...except they do. There's like 2 new 8-bit looking indy games made every week. If anything, it's painfully overdone.

Yeah, but are they good and are they on WiiWare are the key questions. I might not have been paying attention for awhile, but other than escapeVektor, the Bit.Trip games and Art Style, I can't really think of any.

There's Mega man 9 and 10 and Konami's rebirth series.
