Topic: What ever happened to demos?

People still have the demos but you just have to keep it on your system. I had one of the demos left but I deleted it.

i wonder if a demo would work if you copied it to another system? has anyone tried it? i mean, it's not like an actual game, so no money changed hands or anything... it was just a free demo.

Nintendo wanted to make very sure that they stayed in a distant dead-last in terms of their internet service/offerings, so naturally these had to go.

I honestly dont see why they dont have them. If I didnt get the demo for Pokemon Rumble, there was no way I would be payin 15 bucks for that without trying it first.

Both DS and Wii demos have to start rolling, or I'm not going to buy as many WiiWare games. VC demos would be fantastic!!

More demos would be good but i don't really care and you can watch Wii Ware videos on the Nintendo Channel.

The newest WiiWare game from Nintendo (FI has been submitted) appears to have a demo in the Japanese Wii Shop.

doesn't that mean that you could gift it to NA players? Or is the Wii regionlocked?

OBJECTION! There's videos of WiiWare games on the Nintendo Channel. It may be a hassel to launch the Nintendo Channel just to watch a video and then go back, but still. And if Nintendo was lazy, they wouldn't be making any games because third parties already make games so they don't need to.

Nintendo doesn't like demoes, remember? No skin off my bones, though. It just means I spend less money on games I'm not immediately interested in.

I'm assuming your joking, but still, I'm sure the third parties would love it if Nintendo stopped making games.

Didn't Nintendo and Sega once team up to ban video game rentals because it hurt sales when consumers knew in advance which games sucked? I don't think Nintendo has changed much. I hear a lot of consumer talk about lackluster WiiWare games they regret buying so I don't expect Nintendo to release many demos because it won't help sales, it'll hurt them.

You don't have to know what it's like or be over there. You just have to see what the competitors can do.

Not only is the Wii region-locked, but you cannot even gift to people in other countries within your region because the shops seem to run on a country-by-country basis. I really don't get that. Why can't I gift a game to someone in Australia or France? LAME!

You do realize in order to release VC demos, the developers/publishers have to actually change the game so that it's only a demo. Seeing as how some developers are now defunct, I doubt these will happen any time soon
